  1. would love to get some information about this...can you send me a DM? Thanks.
  2. Thanks for the feedback. When you say "there are others" that will work, any recommendations or advice about who those "others" might be? Thanks!
  3. A couple references in this string to the impact that the still design has on the efficiency and speed of the stripping run. Anyone have any specific recommendations with regards to still design or specific still builders that are better than others? To take it one step further, are there specific stills that effectively eliminate the need or benefits to doing a stripping run all together?
  4. Realizing that this string is a couple of years old...I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations with regards to still producers that make equipment would be particularly effective at making whiskey or apple brandy in a single distilling run. I know one distiller who has been in the craft distilling space for decades who recommends utilizing a single run and doesn't see much benefit in the stripping run followed by a spirit run model. He said he thinks you can make a quality product with a single run using a Holstein or CARL still. Is this something that is a unique strength/capability of stills designed by those producers? Thanks.
  5. Well, as someone looking to buy I'd love to be able to grab one of these deals. I assume you don't find them on this forum as it seems like all of the stills listed here are gone in a day or two?
  6. Along the lines of discussion here, can someone enlighten me as to what sort of facility/infrastructure you need to have from a zoning or TTB standpoint to store liquor in barrels? I was recently at the ADI conference and recall someone saying that "as long as its in a barrel it doesn't count" and you can store as much as you want so long as you have sprinklers. Then, at one of the sessions someone said that, unless you are zoned "high hazard/H3" you could only store up to 240 gallons on site even you have to have sprinklers. We are looking to renovate an old barn which will have sprinklers, but would not be zoned H3. Just wondering what sort of ageing limitations we might face on site or, if we store in a separate bonded facility, what sort of infrastructure that facility will need to look for. Thanks.
  7. Anyone have any insights into the used still equipment market and what brands or types of stills might hold their value and are easier to sell than others? For example, would a CARL still hold its resale value better than a Vendome still? Would a Vendome still hold its value better than an Artisan Still Design still? Would a used 500 gallon still see more demand than a used 250 or 300 gallon still (or vice-versa)? Thanks!
