  1. You might be able to keep the exposed beam if you sealed it. The problem with wood boring insects is that they will produce frass, poop and sawdust. They also will dump dead insects out the door. You also tend to have more areas in an open barn for insects and insect parts falling into whatever your making.
  2. So we are looking at building our own still. We are running into some trouble finding copper that is large diameter. So my question is this. Are those columns nothing but rolled sheet that is then brazed on the seam length wise? Anybody know what gauge material it is? The reason we are making it is I have some family that are pipe fitters and welders, but none of them know of large diameter copper. When I contacted a large copper manufacturer stateside they said I would be hard pressed to find anything over 6 or 8" Best regards Mike
  3. Has anyone bought any of the stills made in China. I have had quotes from companies for 200 gallon steam jacketed unit w agitation and 2 reflux columns for producing rum, whiskey, gin, brandy and vodka for low 20's. I am a little apprehensive to buy from china but when you see identical units to still dragons on the Chinese sites you have to question where everyone gets there stills, For the near future I am in the market for a setup to do rum, gin, whiskey, and vodka in the 200 gal range, steam jacketed. This is for a startup, I own another company and want to dip my toes into a micro real soon. To preserve my marriage I cant go large setup yet, but can gamble enough away on a 200 gal setup that if it didn't work out I can stay married. We are looking at locations now. Any advise on dealers of small setups would be appreciated.
