  3. Connections on G70 pump

You can buy different size fittings for it. We use one and it works really well for us.
  4. Fermentation stops @ 50%

What temp are you putting your malted grains in and how are you measuring that temperature?
  5. Fed acquired, can we make without State permit?

We are in Ohio, just got our state permit in late June. Per our compliance officer when she made her inspection, you cannot distill in Ohio without your state permit. Once you get your permit, then you can apply for your listing. This takes 45-60 days.
  6. Labeling D.S.S.

Without doubt the hardest label I have done has been for our unaged bourbon, a white whiskey if you will. Had to do formula for it. Had to jump through hoops with the label for it. Now, had I stuck it in a new barrel for 1 day it would have become sooooo much simpler. Same distillate, but no formula required and the label is about as straight forward as it can be. Go figure.
  7. After 5 years and Broke

Steam injection is using live steam from your boiler an injecting it into the still to heat it. No condensate return is required with this, but your boiler would have to be sized to handle the makeup water needed to produce that much steam. The other option of heating with steam is to circulate steam through the jacket. This will require a condensate return back to the boiler. A little more expensive to setup, but less expensive to operate.
  8. Selling off the farm, MUST GO!

Pics of the 200 gallon tank please. rob@killbuckcreek.com
  9. Get your Federal Permit? How long did it take?

Permit received today. 204 days since submitting application.
  10. Pot still and equipment

What do you have in the way of hydrometers and other lab equipment?
  11. Steam Boiler Requirements

Is that gross or net steam? We've got a Weil-McClain LGB-6 which is a 15.7hp boiler. Should satisfy our needs for a 200 gallon still and 200 gallon mash tun. Just curious what others are running.
  12. Steam Boiler Requirements

What boiler are you running Silk City?
  13. Get your Federal Permit? How long did it take?

Conejo, when did you submit your application and get your permit? State application has been in some time now.
  14. Get your Federal Permit? How long did it take?

Ohio. Was told by TTB that when they restructured first of the year that the agents are back to doing one type of permit. Who was your's?
  15. Get your Federal Permit? How long did it take?

That's really sad because in early January I contacted the TTB because we were starting to get a little long in the tooth on our application. I was assured that applications were being handled in the order they were received.
  16. Get your Federal Permit? How long did it take?

How the hell did you make that happen?
  17. Get your Federal Permit? How long did it take?

Oh we went full bore on getting our building ready that we are also renting. About the only thing we have left to do is get the base in for our bar and that portion is done. The contractors will be finishing up the boiler, plumbing and electrical next week. Got a couple minor things to tweak on the labels on our first products and they will be ready to submit for COLA as soon as the DSP comes through. Our state application is in. Ohio will work on your state application without having your federal in hand (wish we would have known that a little sooner). We were anticipating another month or so for the state permit after getting our federal. Hopefully this is now not quite so long. Been paying rent and utilities for 9 months now with just a few t-shirt sales to offset it all.
  18. Get your Federal Permit? How long did it take?

Any updates from anyone out there? We've had our application in since Sept 19, 2016 with not the first phone call from the TTB. Contacted my Congressman last week to ask for his help in pushing this through, but still nothing. Awfully frustrating paying rent and utilities for over six months and the biggest hurdle to starting your business is the very entity we will be paying outrageous taxes to. We are at 28 weeks and counting. They will have us dead on the vine.
