  1. Hello, When I got into the distilling business I was told a column with a minimum number (21) plates is necessary to practically achieve 190, so a 21 plate column is what I have. I know a lot of small distilleries making vodka distill without a column, with a pot and 4 plates or with a column having less than 21 plates. I assumed these distilleries are yielding 190 (painfully slow and not efficiently) or processing NGS. Recently, a couple of prospective distillers asked me to try and achieve 190 with my pot and 4 plates. A domestic manufacturer has assured them they will reach 190 with 4 plates. After a couple of tries with a +60% ABV charge in my Carl Still, four plates and a lot of cooling 187 is as high as it gets. The results I get contradict an established still manufacture unless I am distilling improperly. Therefore I ask, have you yielded 190 with only 4 plates? If so, how do you do it? Thank you, Paul
  2. I am interested in the racks. Please send more information or some contact info. Thank you, Paul Werni paul@45thparallelspirits
  3. I have ignored and deleted all the request until this one. He gave a CC number, it checked out, moneys deposited into our account, and he is paying retail as an individual. His carrier has yet to pick up the order, but twice he has requested to increase the order (paying in advance). The kicker is he wants us to pay his carrier via Western Union. Money is deposited into our account via CC, then we pay WU to pay the carrier. We get paid, but the WU to the carrier "doesn't smell right". Paul
  4. I get emails asking to sell product to individuals overseas. They will pay in advance by credit card for the product and shipping. The requests are from different sources, but have a similar tone. There is a scam feeling about it. Does anyone have experience with this situation and/or information regarding the legitimacy of these emails. Paul
  5. Hey, thanks for the replies. Ketchup and Brasso. Will a citric acid solution spray followed up with brasso do the same thing? Paul
  6. I looking for polishing tips. Polishing the pot is relatively easy and successful. The column is another animal. The surface is smooth and I am usually left with streaks. Can you/anyone suggest a good polish and/or provide some tips. Thank You, Paul, 45th Parallel
  7. If you are looking you can call 612-790-1603 and ask for Paul.

  10. We are currently providing contract distilling services for Bulk Whiskey. We are well set up for whiskey production within our facility. Paul Werni 612-790-1603 45th Parallel Spirits
  11. After purchasing bottles overseas the past couple of years I am looking for distillers that will consider buying bottles through a buyers co-op. The goal is to achieve more flexible quantities at volume prices. Paul
  12. We pump into a tank mounted on an old dump truck. Some water is drained after cooling and settling, then the remaining waste is dumped at a cattle farm to be mixed with other feed. The farmer did construct a bin to receive the waste and he likes the extra moister, he believes it keeps longer and the moister is good for the mixing.
  13. Melkon, thank you for your work on the behalf of all small producers. We at 45th Parallel Spirits pledge our support to the proposed change of the Fed Excise Tax rate applied to small producers. Paul A. Werni
