  1. That is backwards. Your distributor should get you in. Mine did. The only thing I'm a veteran of is yelling at clouds.
  2. I've said it before, I'll say it again: you buy bottles from a Chinese glass factory, you are gambling. I have lost many $$s and many years off my life doing this. You name it, I've experienced it. I do buy from a glass factory in China, but it is French owned: Rockwood Glass. The only factory there I recommend.
  3. Imagine how many plastic IBC totes full of high proof alcohol a company like Greenfield has in any one of their warehouses at any time.
  4. OK where are the moderators to ban a spam account like this? All it does is link unrelated bullshit products. CLEARLY SPAM.
  5. Well that looks a little familiar
  6. Do any of the people posting this year realize the OP was in 2018? I'm gonna go out an a very short limb and guess that this OP is somewhat expired. People on this forum really need to pay attention to post dates 🙈
  7. BUMP is a specific use, NOT a 14 y.o. post. One does not just bump after such an extreme interval; one can revive the discussion by adding or asking for info, as slickfloss mentioned. "bump" in this instance is just "hey look at this 14 y.o. thread! wowza cool and nifty doo." So wtf, who cares? Ask or answer or add something. Don't just wave your arms and yell bump. Galapadoc apparently understood when I lightheartedly pointed out the age of the thread, which he hadn't noticed. But obviously you have a different concept of time and place, and probably length and width as well. AND YES I AM THE ARBITER OF THAT RULE. SO SUCK IT.
  8. Well 🖕 M. Thatch Learn the definitions before you go slinging your 💩 One does not bump a 14 y.o. post.
  9. 14 years later... This must be some sort of record.
  10. ISO = In Search Of, for those not following along with the rest of english speaking humanity. But make your own. I did and it's easy and inexpensive. You already have the compressor, hopefully oilless, probably since most non huge industrial ones are. Run that hose to a 3-stage medical grade air filter from Caltrol, (P/N 2/100-12-DX ,P/N 2/100-12-BX,P/N 2/100-12-SA). From there connect that to an air foot pedal, fork it to twin air nozzles mounted table height, I just repurposed the extendable nozzles on cheap blow gun kits from big box stores, just invert the bottles over the nozzles, and voila, compressed medical grade air to blow out your bottles two at a time. I've been using this for years, works awesome. Filter housings indicate when to change them.
  11. That's probably a typo, meaning on or off the train. Fermenting close to train tracks is subject to the rhythmic rumbling and clanking of the trains, producing mechanical and pressure sound waves which can affect the fermenting liquid. Thus the fermentation tank must be constructed to account for these pressures. If not, the fermentation may behave in an abnormal, or wildly uncontrolled way. This is referred to as the ferment going off the rails. If you are off the train, at least 125 miles, 200 km, or 40000 rods away from train tracks, you are clear from any influence of the waves. This is what is referred to as neutral spirit because all external train forces are effectively neutralized by distance. Hope this helps clear things up.
  12. Apparently the OP is looking for something different as long as they use Apple products. Your hotmail address may be a non-starter...
  13. oh my goodness, my op was made 2 years ago in response to some numbnuts posting the same stupid arak post in many forum topics. I DO NOT NOW NOR HAVE I EVER HAD ANY INTEREST IN ARAK. If I didn't before, I definitely have araknaphobia now.
  14. I think pseudocereals also include the off-brand frosted flakes my mom used to buy. They were grrrraciously appreciated.
  15. Langdon Guenther, TTB consultant, got my importer's license easy peasy. Highly recommended.
  16. I'm not going to look it up, but I'm fairly sure TTB has a definition of "grain".
  17. Looking for bulk sugarbrew, preferably westcoast-ish. Know anyone? But not tankers full.
  18. I've had an 1800 gpd water purification system from the getgo, though not from you folks. Carbon filter, softener, RO. When it came time to once again replace the membrane on the RO unit, I began wondering...what if I didn't? What if I didn't replace the membrane, what if I didn't use RO at all, or the softener, what if I used just the carbon filter? We're all familiar with distilleries that tout the awesomeness of their spring water, their naturally great-tasting water with minerals and life-giving goodness and God's great bountiful wonder found right next to the distillery, plain and simple, pure and tasty. So why do I need to purify so much? Background info: my county water is sourced from deep underground aquifiers after starting as rain filtered through thousands of feet of volcanic rock. So it's perfectly pure at the source. Chlorine dumped in to manage the travel to my taps. So if I remove the chlorine with a carbon filter, shouldn't I get pure natural delicious water? I began to think I would. So I did a test. Made vodka with 190 and carbon filtered water. Waited quite a while to see if there was any cloudiness, or other unwanted outcome. There was not. Presto, my next batches were diluted with carbon filtered water only. Same product as my previously highly purified water. No muss, no fuss. Obviously, depending on your water source, YMMV.
  19. As it's always been, making the stuff is pretty easy, selling it is the hard part. Now making it is a bit more costly, but selling it is still the hard part. One must find one's niche. When I started not that long ago there were around 80 distilleries in the US; now there's what, 2500+ ? I think that goes a long way in explaining your shortages and price increases.
  20. Just label your stuff "whiskey" with no qualifier? Just get your bottles custom made? Just get neutral from Greenfield? I've seen no shortage of bartop corks, nor labels from my vantage point. Buying pre made whiskey I can see is a problem right now. Get a whiskey still and start distilling? Laugh all the way to the bank...
