  1. Thank you! Like I thought, right under my nose. I literally scoured the entire page looking for a "MY ACCOUNT" tab/button. Their instruction is worse than no instruction haha.
  2. Formulas online says you do not need to set up a new account, if you are already registered for COLAs online. But the instructions it gives you for how to set up a Formulas account with your COLAs account are incomplete or wrong. It says, once logged in go to My account/ companies/ add. I have looked all over but do not see the My account button. Am I blind, or logging into the wrong thing? I feel like I must be doing something that should be easy, very wrong, but after trying to get ahold of their customer service, I'm starting to believe that the website is broken just like the customer service. I have called their customer service almost every day for the last 3 weeks at different times, but nobody ever answers, it always asks me to leave a message, which they never return. Does anyone know a better way to get in contact with them, or know how to link the 2 accounts? Thanks!
  3. Our first product has been on shelves for about 3 months now, and its doing well. I still work a 8-5 day job, do tastings every weekend and liquor stores, and fit in distillery operations whenever I'm not doing those 2. I designed my business plan to keep the overhead as low as possible, have 0 employees right now, but am already half way to breaking even on monthly expenses, in just 3 months of product availability. I know that once I can afford to quit my day job I will be able to grow the business faster, but I cant really complain about my growth at the moment.
  4. We heat our water with our still to at least 160degF.Then mix everything in a stainless drum with a paddle and good ole elbow grease, then pump to fermenter.
  5. It took over 3 months from submitting our first COLA to hear anything back. Once it was rejected we made corrections and had the approval within 2 weeks. Submitting during the holiday season could be the reason it was held up. I hope it does not take as long in the future.
  6. Hello fellow Houston distiller Its always exciting to see other locals on here.
  7. I have had a batch cloud a little bit, but I assumed it was due to cuts not the water.
  8. The same spring water that goes in our final product.
  9. I think I'm paying about .70 per lb of organic blackstrap
  10. If you submitted it last week, the best thing you can do is forget about it for the next few months. Received my DSP about 2 months ago and it took about 8 months from submission.
  11. I am trying to solve this very issue right now, my local homebrew store has 55 gallon drums of LME that they screw a special tap onto the port on the top and then lay the drum on a stand on its side. it can then be measured out into a smaller bucket. Pumping the stuff seems like a mess.
  12. Hello from Houstons newest distillery, Grateful Dane Distilling Co. Been lurking these forums for a few years now, we finally got our DSP last month, and I figured Its time to introduce myself. Just getting the last few pieces of the puzzle together before we hopefully begin production in the next month or so. Gratefuldanedistilling.com is our website for anyone interested.
  13. I have heard Bio diesel works great and its a lot cheaper than glycol. I plan to use Bio Diesel once we get up and running.
  14. For those distilleries that have built their own still, did you run into any legal issues. I believe you have to have a license of sorts to be a still manufacturer. Did you have to wait until after you received your distillers license to build it, or is there an allowance of time to build it while the DSP is processing? Is there any serial numbering or registering that needs to be done? Anything else I should look into on this topic? I apologize if this question has already been asked/answered. Thanks!
