  1. just look at their source of revenue, all articles quote the biggest of the big boys, we stand to be marginalized by these publications we have to use our local press to grow in our areas. by the way who reads these mags in the general public, or are all comped to industry and purchasing
  2. great idea, lets be as inclusive as possible with our like sized dsps. we need to stop eating our young and remember to look at the big picture. we are working with our congressman to address excise tax rates and i recieved 17 replies that were positive and almost as many picking the idea apart. there is strength in numbers. lets stick together and if you dont like an idea rewrite it and subit it. melkon has done alot of great work on this and on excise taxes. thanks jimmy
  3. Is there any interest in us keeping a list of slow, or bad check wholesellers. This could be a way to avoid an expensive lesson. I am sure I am not the only one to run into this problem.
  4. Not only did we have to get the spill containment vessel we had to install a spill containment barrier for our main floor drain. Had to send reciepts and photos to the risk management expert. Upon further review of the photos it has been determined the barrier is a trip hazard which could "lead to serious injury". Now we are "going to revisit the floor drain issue to find the best location for eventual relocation of hazardous floor drain and barrier". Of course the drain should be moved to a high point on the floor. What next?!
  5. we have done some of the obligatory tours (chamber etc....) but we maintain a not open to the public policy due to our fire marshal and building codes. we are also a small operation, about your size. if open to the public (in fla) we lose our meares exemption on ethanol storage with osha and would have to install sprinklers and spill retention vessels due to our square footage. in fact the fire inspecter was on site today and i love saying sorry not open to the public, because they lose most of their regs. presently we are building a larger location and we have wondered if the additional costs would be worth being open to the public, but fl frowns on spirit mfg (and only spirit) selling to the public, so it would be difficult for us to capatilize on foot traffic
  6. you will have to divide the parcel period. no residence can be on the same piece of land. this is due to the search requirements with florida and ttb. zoning is a big issue in florida, we are south of alabama and it shows with dd series state licensure. we have done something similar but got the dsp zoned agricultural intensive by our county
  7. Interested in 55 gal open heads give me a cal at 386 986 0641_jimmy l
  8. we are much further south so our main worry is cooling, generally fermentation keeps everything warm enough 65+. occasionaly we get a cold snap and we do not own a heater. we wrap with subfloor insulation (cheap and waterproof) but put two water bed heaters under the insulation (cheap-$12.00 and water resistant)our fermenters have never gone below 68 but we do not have freezing temps all day long. you guys that live up north are much tougher than me
