  4. Has anyone else had difficulty getting equipment delivered on time? Or even in the realm of on time? What about quality issues? Equipment delivered that was essentially not manufactured correctly and working properly or parts missing? Customer service that disappears right after the sales part of it? I feel like there's got to be others out there who have dealt with this from supposedly reputable manufacturers. It's beginning to feel like an epidemic of everything that I purchase. I do my research and talk with references, etc. It literally doesn't seem to help.
  5. I have a brewcraft 27 gallon tippy dump set up. It is great for creating recipes for larger distillations. It is a great little set up for brewing beer too. I am asking $3500 for the set up.
  6. Hi, My first post here, so if it is in the wrong forum, moderator please feel free to move it to correct forum. I was wondering if folks here use jackets (like used in breweries) to control their fermenters' temperature. We are looking to set up a distillery to make single malt whisky and one of the options I am looking at is square stainless steel totes as fermenters. These come with a dimpled jacket on one side, and I am wondering if that'd be enough. This will be located in Northern California, and the summer can get quite warm. Cheers, Virag

  8. We are selling our 500 gallon all wood fermenter. We actually haven't used it other than swelling of the wood. We have built a reinforced stand. The stand also has a one percent slope to make draining the fermenter easier. We added an upper graded thermo-well and thermometer. We are looking for $2200.00. If you have questions call Taylor Howard at 828-230-8121 or email taylor@hhdistillery.com
  9. I am looking for tri-clamp fittings that can be used to attach fittings to the side and bottom of a wood open fermenter. Picture attached. Anyone know where to find some? Thanks!
  10. We are asking $7500 each for these fermenters. We purchased both of these new from Practical Fusion in 2014. We are purchasing new bigger equipment from Practical Fusion that is due to arrive in late February. These two fermenters will be available March 15th. I would like to secure a buyer before then. We will require a 25% deposit to hold and the additional 75% before shipment in March. Buyer is responsible for lining up shipping. I can be reached on my cell or email. Thanks Dave 614-357-1896 or dave@watersheddistillery.com open top fermenter tank diagram.pdf

  12. We are looking at getting a small 1000 litre fermenter - here in Europe Cypress wood is not easy to get, but oak fermenters are. Has anyone any experience of using an oak fermentation tank? We are in a temperate area, so not worried about excessive heat and cold, just worried about bacterial infections etc with low abv in an oak tank. Should we just go for stainless?

Can be new or used as long as it's in working condition, clean, and has a thermowell. Jacketed would be nice but I don't expect it. Big bonus if it's on locking casters!! 20. Hey All- So we are finally purchasing equipment. My question is this, how many fermenters are needed in any given operation? Due to budget we are starting with with a 250 liter still (66gl), but if all goes according to the business plan this will only be for the first 18 months. Because we have multiple partners running the still 5-6 days per week at this point is not a foreseeable problem. Am I correct in assuming that with a setup like this we will need at least three individual fermenters of about equal capacity to the charge of the still? I really would like to hear what has worked for people. Thanks Travelers.

  22. Hey all, I wonder if anybody has any experience using the double-walled plastic storage tanks typically used in hazardous materials storage as a jacketed fermenter? In particular, I was looking at the products listed here: http://www.plastic-m...uble-wall-tanks It seems to me that one could modify those tanks with an inlet - outlet port on the spill containment outside wall for cooling flow, and bam -- a pretty quick and easy jacketed fermenter. I expect that without a conical bottom it might be a little more work to pump all of the ferment out. I mean to call them to find out if the tanks can be made from a food-safe plastic, which is a major open question. - Peter http://www.californiastandardwhiskey.com/
