  1. First of all, who ever put this site together, great job. Have been reading through it and it's awesome to have a forum that answers most of our questions rather than trying to call the TTB and rarely get a straight answer. Ok, so curious if any other small facilities have had this issue. QUICK BACKGROUND: We filed for a new permit since we wanted change owners, father to son(we've had this small distillery for 20 years). As ttb came out to do there investigation they took 2 bottles to sample. We were told both bottles were at 81 proof not 80. Although we sent samples to another TTB certified lab and they gave us a reading of 80.23. Our inventory was only about 15 cases. Again we're a small distillery and we only bottle 6 to 12 cases at a time. Basically bottle when we need to. So end result the TTB investigator told us to stop all operations until the new permit is complete which will take another 2 months atleast because we were over proof and that didn't match our labels of 80 proof. We have one major account we can't afford to lose. Has anyone other distilleries gone through something similar? What did you do? Also, for some reason the TTB investigator didn't know the answer to this but does anyone the tolerance +/- you can be for spirits(Vodka, brandy)? is it .3 proof?
  2. Mahogony T-tops with synthetic cork I have 14,000 new Mahogany T-tops with synthetic corks from Tapi USA lying around from a past project that I won’t be needing anymore. They are factory sealed in in unopened bags of 1000 that weigh about 30 pounds each. -14,000 of them are 19.5mm stopper, the wood top is 36.5mm wide and 14mm thick total height is 33.5mm. (pictured) I’d like to get $.25 each or $250 per bag because I paid twice that for them but honestly, they are just taking up space and I’d be open to any and all offers. If you think these closures may be suitable for you, I would be happy to send some samples out of already opened bags at my expense to make sure they are a good fit for you. One or 2 bags may be worthwhile to ship UPS etc.. but much more than that may be better off LTL. Buyer pays freight. I can arrange shipping FOB 22949, Lovingston, VA, or you can pick up at my brewery. I'll consider paying shipping with your deposit on any reasonable offers PM or Email Chris at Ezcyser@gmaildotcom, thanks.

  4. I've contacted four suppliers about a metal t-top closure for our vodka. Don't care for plastic or painted wood. Ideally looking for silver/stainless steel closure. Also need to purchase at smaller quantities if possible and embossing would be nice if possible. Any suggestions?

    Plastic Bottle Closures

I'm trying to find a vendor - preferably one with a US sales office - that can provide, source or fabricate high quality plastic screw caps reminiscent of what you'll find on many Nikka whiskies out of Japan. Does anyone have a good contact? Thanks Screwcap.pdf
  7. Not sure where the best place to ask this question is, so I am starting out in equipment. If I need to move this thread please let me know We are partnering with a small distiller out of CA to launch a new sparkling spirt, 15% ABV. We have been looking at different closures. What provides the best bang for the buck? We were thinking either Stelvin or a Crown Cap. It seems like a Stelvin capper is pretty expensive but is much faster, but I can't seem to find out if the will stand up to pressure. We are currently carbonating to about 2.5-3.0 atmospheres. If we use a Crown Cap and a bench press our bottle cost goes way up. Crown top seems to be a bit more expensive, maybe because it is used mainly for Champaign? Is there a place to find used equipment or should I just bite the bullet and Poney up for a stelvin finisher? Hoping somebody might be able to point us in the right direction. Thanks!!! Ben
