  1. Perhaps one of the 10 Maryland distilleries or the Maryland Distillers Guild can answer or comment. After easily and quickly obtaining a TTB permit for a new distillery in Frederick County, I learned that Maryland a) doesn't have a craft distiller's license class b) requires distilleries who pay a $2,000 annual fee to also obtain a $2,000 wholesale liquor license in order to sell their products to wholesalers and retailers. Marylanders, do I have that right? Is anyone lobbying Annapolis about these high fees and separate licenses? Most states I deal with permit distillers to manufacture and sell to wholesalers and retails without having a second license. 2. I am in the (very) early stages of trying to setup a DSP in Maryland. However, I cannot seem to find an answer as to what can and cannot be a distillery. I found the federal law stating that the distillery cannot be attached to a residence. I have called everyone from the liquor board in Maryland to the zoning commission. All seem to point me to the other. Does anyone know of a resource to search commercial properties by manufacturing zoning (specifically in Maryland)? Thanks in advance for your time and help! I am really excited to be a part of this forum!
  3. Hello all! Thanks for letting me join. I'm excited to be a part of the group!
  4. Good Morning! I’m Sean with Tobacco Barn Distillery in Southern Maryland and have been a lurker on this forum for well over two years. I figured it’s about time that I officially joined so that I can express my gratitude for what I’ve learned from all of you during this time. With the help/ information in this forum, we received our DSP permit, and, beat the national average for that month by 22 days! Although the list of folks on this forum that I need to thank is long, I would be remiss if I didn’t specifically single out Aaron Linden, and Holly Bowers from HUB International. Their tireless assistance with bonding and insurance is truly appreciated. With any luck, and at some point in the future, I’ll be able to help someone as much as you all have helped me. 5. Skipjack Distilleries is a new distillery in the Chesapeake region that will be signing a lease this month, with the hard work to begin. The focus will be on pre-prohibition rum, whiskey, and gin. The planning and discussions with local municipalities have been going on through 2014 and the plan is to be operating, TTB license permitting, by late summer 2015. I participated in the ADI conference in Seattle this past winter, may have even met a few of you at Rhumba. I do have a few questions regarding zoning but I will save that for the forum. Kind regards, -Dan
