  1. We have an old stainless steel jacketed tank we bought some time ago that has some rust in it. We're hoping to use it as the base of a pot still. I've tried Bar Keeper's Friend, and a rust removing gel and both have helped but I still can't remove all the rust. The photo shows the bottom of the pot. First, any other ideas on removing the rust? Second, is it usable? What would happen it we ran it with the rust in it? Thanks, Ron

  7. We are outgrowing our original potstill. This is a 120 gallon capacity potstill with thumper. It was custom manufactured for us in 2014 using a Groen steam kettle as the foundation. In the top of the still head is a basket where copper mesh can be placed if desired, or potentially gin botanicals. The thumper can be bypassed for straight potstill runs. Two efficient stainless condensers knock down vapors using well water. Kettle is rated for high pressure steam, but we ran it with 15 psi low pressure steam. Two 300L receiver tanks collect heads, hearts or tails as desired. 1.5" TC connections. Skid mounted, measures 4'w x 8' l x 11' h. Asking $6500 FOB. Still is located in Pittsboro NC 27312.
  8. Jacketed (side and bottom) stainless steel mixing tank. It works but it has a few pin hole leaks in the inner jacket that can be fixed. It holds approx. 335 gallons. Asking 1500.00. We are located in Northern Ca.
  9. Looking to order some equipment from Bubba's Barrels and at the checkout I see an option for entering a coupon code but I have never seen any offers for a coupon or discount. Anyone been able to get a discount?
  10. 200 gallon+ SS mixing/cooking Kettle, non-jacketed with geared 1.5 HP mixing head, 3 HP VFD controller and mixing paddle. Includes spare motor. This is one heavy duty kettle and was used to mix Candy, Jams and Jellies. Very strong, durable and in great shape (the leg pads are galvanized and have a little rust). Has a Tri-Clamp drain (looks like 1.5") on the bottom. I received as part of a bulk equipment purchase from a local food manufacturer. No idea who made the kettle itself but its very well made I was planning on using it for future expansion but I need the space. Could be used to mash wort when combined with a hot liquor tank and false bottom. Or remove the mixer and put a column on it and make it a still. $4K. Kettles like this are on ebay for $8K+ Contact Kevin at Smoky Quartz Distillery or at kevin.kurland@smokyquartzdistillery.com I also have a BIG 'side arm' shell and tube steam powered water heater I'll be putting up soon. It could double as a big wort cooler also.
  11. Good Morning, We have a Grain Cooker that we bought and used 2 times for a special recipe that didnt work out so we are trying to get rid of it. We paid $15,000 for it but would like to at least get $12,500 out of it. It is 325 gallons, powered with electric units. Has a grate to keep grain from settling on bottom. Outlet above grate is 2 inch and below grate is 3 inch. Stainless still built with cypress wood on outside, which could be removed if needed. Has a thermometer, we have a mixer for it that we bought separate but would give with it to get rid of it. I tried attaching some pictures here but the file size was too large. If you would like to contact me about the cooker, my email is kbcdistillingcompany@gmail.com and I can give you more information and pictures.
