  1. Hello, I am Zach Zimlich with ZAK Cooperage and we are new to ADI! ZAK Cooperage is a 3rd generation, family-owned business that prides itself on producing expertly-crafted new 53-gallon white oak barrels. In 1991 we opened our stave mill in Athertonville, Kentucky and expanded into a cooperage that has supplied distilleries both locally and internationally for over 17 years. We strive to provide distilleries with the best product at a competitive price! Please feel free to check us out at www.ZAKCooperage.com or reach out to us at Zach.Zimlich@gmail.com. We look forward to building relationships with ADI members in 2017, and we hope you all enjoy the holidays! Best, Zach Zimlich ZAK Cooperage
  2. Forumites, I have received reports regarding Oak Wood Barrel Co. One of our clients ordered and paid them in June with the company guaranteeing delivery in July. They still have yet to receive their order. They have been contacted numerous times via E-Mail and landline. The client has been given a lot of excuses the few times they could actually reach them. Now they no longer answer their phone but instead have a service that when you call they tell you that they are in a meeting. They have yet to be called back. At the minimum they are operating their business poorly, at the maximum this could be a scam.
  3. Greeting from the Atlas Barrel Company! Cooperage in Minneapolis that makes 30 & 53-gallon barrels with our local MN oak. Just wanted to introduce ourselves to the growing distillers market. Excited to have joined the industry in 2014, and looking forward to partnering with distilleries to make better spirits together for years to come! Check us out if you have spirits that need a temporary home. We have thirsty barrels that happily await the day to meet your barrel houses. Cheers! http://atlasbarrel.com/
  4. The UK, Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands have all converted coal burning plants to wood fired. By 2020, the EU, which has designated wood as carbon neutral for emissions, will generate 20% of it power from renewables. North Yorkshires, DRAX power plant is capable of 4000 Megawatts, half of which has already been converted to wood. Exports of wood from the southestern like states of North Carolina and Georgia have grown from nothing in 2005 to 6.5 million metric tons in 2015 and projected to be 9 million metric tons (Forisk Consulting in Athens GA) by 2020. Mono-culture forests for pellets will not focus on the relatively slow growth of white oak. (Science, 6 Jan 2017) This is not a settled issue in terms of the environment or the underlying carbon renewal economics but the trip to Europe for pellets is a short one. Something to think about the next time you drive through Asheville.

  11. Greetings All We have purchased a stave mill about 1 hour from out cooperage, and are now producing new charred 53 gal oak barrels from MN oak Additionally we have recently tripled our output over the past year and now have many barrels of every size in stock- 5/10/15/30/53 gallon, and intend to have stock going forward Currently we are making our 1st production run of 53's, and will have about 100 extra ready to ship by the end of next week The 53's are $275/ea, and fit 6 to a pallet. Can laser engrave your logo on the barrel head for a small fee. Let me know of any interest Cheers Richard Richard@thebarrelmill.com 800-201-7125
  12. Hey everybody, My name is Benny. I'm a woodworker and bartender in Baltimore who, along with several other woodworkers, are interested in starting an artisan cooperage with a focus on creating barrels for use in distilleries. It'll be a while (~year) before we are at a production capacity to start really shipping barrels, but it's coming. I'm hoping this is a great place to learn more about specifics to coopering barrels beyond the woodwork, such as which chars create what flavors, woods to use besides oak for either finishing whiskey or aging other spirits, etc. Cheers!

  15. Hello, I am writing from TONELERÍA JUAN PINO http://www.toneleriajuanpino.es/ a family run business based in Montilla (Córdoba, Spain) which specialises in the production of a very large variety of barrels made from genuine American oak wood. Casks are also available in European Oak wood. The raw materials are duly treated in order to make top-quality products which fully comply with the regulations implemented by the European Union. In particular, the wooden components undergo a meticulous process until they reach the right humidity and the appropriate tannic content. Furthermore, the barrels can be toasted according to the needs of their customers, so that they can provide the necessary conditions which are required to produce every sort of wine or spirit. We also supply premium quality ex sherry barrels, mainly ex oloroso and ex PX casks. They are available in different sizes (500 litre butts, 250 litre puncheons and hogsheads). This complex and painstaking elaboration process is based on traditional techniques which result in making barrels suitable to elaborate the very best wines and spirits. Despite JUAN PINO’S foundation dates from the early 90’s, the company’s owners have a previous and extensive experience within the industry. Several generations of the same family have been involved in this activity, passing their know-how on to their descendants. Our company has developed two different lines of products: The classic barrels range from 200 to 500 litres, the largest ones are commonly used in the production of wine whereas those of 250 litres are mainly used to make whisky and other spirits. The second line of products are barrels and other items for decorating purposes such as barrel-shaped clocks, display cabinets and ice buckets, sets of table with chairs etc… If you are interested please contact me on my email: david@tradelink-uk.com Regards, David
