  16. We are upgrading our system and selling our 615 gallon combination pot/column still. We used this to make everything from vodka to whiskey. It is all currently dissembled and being cleaned. This still was used for 1.5 years. All of the parts are marked with a corresponding diagram of the still. We are currently asking $60,000 for the complete still. Please PM me if you are interested. Cheers, Winston
  17. Hello All, I recall sometime ago flipping through a digital issue of Distiller Magazine and happening across an article called something to the effect of "50 often forgotten pieces of distillery equipment". I bookmarked it in my mind and I thought I had copied or saved it somewhere, but now I'm trying to track it down and am failing. Does anyone know where I can find it online or have you come across something similar that you could share? Thanks everyone!
  18. Looking to buy used equipment for a small start up. (not from China) 55 to 100 Gallon copper pot still to make Vodka. 55 Gallon still to make Gin. 3 fully jacketed ferment/mash tanks. 1 Two roller grain mill.
  19. Purchasing a new boiler and the contractor is suggesting that we locate it on the floor as close to the mash cooker and still as possible. Less install cost and minimal loss through the piping. Since we have to move things around anyway to accommodate new equipment I am trying to maximize the space. What is the minimum safe distance to place a 15 psi natural gas boiler next to the still? Any other considerations?
  20. I'm looking for a recommendation on a pot still and rectifying column small enough that I can perform R&D, but that is scalable to production size while maintaining (roughly) the same flavor profiles. Product: relatively high ester rum Variables: type of molasses, fermentation time/temperature, yeast strain, etc. Budget: $3-5k
  21. Anyone else graduate from a gravity fill to automated mono-block filler/capper? I use screw caps and bar tops which are both applied singularly with an ROPP capper. I also use a 6 spout gravity filler. Any recommendations for a manufacturer? I've contacted Borelli and Arol with no luck on an 'inbetween' system. 9,000 BPH is extreme and expensive, but 500 is not enough. Any leads are useful; thanks friends!
  22. Distillers - What setups are you using for chill filtering? I'm looking for a lower-cost, lower-volume solution for a startup distillery. Please no vendor responses at this time...thanks.
  23. My systems are all electric, so separation is a must. At the moment, I have a way to separate via a press, but the press requires a hiccup in the process flow while it is filled/pressed/emptied. I would love to have a Russell Finex machine, but 20k (as I hear they cost) is not a doable number right now. I know Dehner started a thread about a version of this that he is designing, but does anyone know of a secondary market for equipment like this? Are there any other manufacturers making something like this for a lower price? Alternatively, for those unable to distill on grain, how are you separating solids from your wash? Any input appreciated. ( )
  24. Well, we jumped the gun ever so slightly and picked up a used bulk tank for use as a mash tun. 300 gallon capacity, was used to make sugar syrups prior. Pretty good shape, has the agitator but needs a new motor. Single wall, no jacket, domed bottom. So now comes the tricky part... easiest/smartest way to turn this thing in to a cooker? A couple contraints: We're not doing steam, so that's out and we won't likely have 3 phase power for the foreseeable future. We're looking to cook 100% corn or a sugar wash for starters. Move on to a more standard bourbon grain bill after that. Which makes the handling of electric elements tricky with the whole scorching issues. We are open to the possiblity of strikewater if we absolutely have to. Probably not the ideal set up but we're starting on a shoe string and this tank leaves us good room to grow (or even convert to a big pot down the line!) Here's a pic of the new baby. (Damrow 300surg gallon dairy/food tank.)
  25. I have attached a picture of a 300 gallon mash tank for someone starting up that doesn't want to spend a lot of money. I get 10% conversions with it. I'm getting too old to get in and clean out the grain so am going to something with a side door. Please call me with questions: 608-335-2461
