  1. Looking to source New York grown grains, anyone who is or has any reliable distributors? Very much appreciated. Would also be seeking New York made bulk gns/whiskey/rye for blending. Cheers!
  2. Hi all, I am starting distillery in Minnesota and hope to be up and running by the summer of 2018. I am wondering how distilleries are working with local farms and what it looks like to purchase raw grains from them. Specifically, I am wondering: 1. Are most of you working with one farm or several? 2. How often are you able to purchase grain from them and are there any seasonal restrictions, particularly in Minnesota? 3. What kind of prices are you getting per pound? I'm interested in using raw wheat, corn, and barley. 4. What other considerations should I be making that I am missing? I know this is a truly beginner question, so I appreciate any advice you have to offer. Thank you!
  3. hello all; We are trying to get our licensing from our local fire marshal and I'm just wanting more information on best places to look. I've tried reading some of the threads here but most of them are a bit further down the road so it leaves me a little in the dust. I've been looking at NFPA 30 but I see many people referencing NFPA 400, and an F1 designation, plus some kind of barrel exception??? I'm having difficulty finding those documents online. I've also recently contacted DISCUS but waiting to hear still. Thanks in advance for any direction. Sean
  4. After much ado, we're in the process of getting our business going. LLC established, EIN, local zoning, building lease, still on order, bonding squared away... but now as I'm getting ready to start the big stuff - TTB paperwork, I'm not sure what order everything needs to be filed. It seems like a lot of the overviews completely gloss over building permitting and state liquor board registrations, and go straight to talking about Federal. In my mind it makes sense to go building permit, state application (I'm in Pennyslvania), and then TTB. But it doesn't look like TTB is looking for building permit documentation and if I can just send in a building diagram of our proposed layout, is that enough to get the federal work going while I get it submitted to the State? Or does the state need the Federal permitting information? I know there can be some overlap on things, but I can't seem to find any examples of how far you can push it. I don't want to trip myself up getting out of sequence. Anyone have some light to shed? Thanks!

  6. Greetings ADI! Thanks for all your support and feedback with respect to our Marketing Myth Countdown series! This week, we're starting something new ... Some of you may recall that Fuel NW published a nationwide survey of distilled spirits drinkers earlier this year. We've compiled the results from all over the US and now we want to share some of the results with you! This week we talk about a definite theme that grew out of the survey responses -- i.e., how much "local" matters. Take a look at the blog here: http://www.fuelevents.net/#!fuel-blog/c22sz If you haven't seen the survey, it is still posted on our homepage -- feel free to take a look so you can get a feel for the questions -- www.fuelevents.net. We are happy to share detailed responses with our clients and will also summarize some of the most poignant findings in our blog over the next few weeks. Also, please check out this week's featured distilleries from 2 of the Final Four towns: Old Sugar Distillery from Madison, Wisconsin (Go Badgers!) and Barrel House Distilling Company from Lexington, Kentucky (Go Wildcats!) As always, feel free to contact us with any questions of if we can help you out in any way. Cheers, Jen & Erika Fuel NW jennifer@fuelevents.net www.fuelevents.net
