  1. I am wondering if anyone has converted their mashtun to work double duty as a low wines still? I use my 2000 litre mashtun 2 times a week( it sits unused for 3 days) and due to the high cost of another Still and lack of floorspace I am thinking of having a lyne arm and condenser fabricated. This would allow me to run low-wines for 3 days and mash for 2 days per week using the mashtun/still. This would allow me to do more finish distillation on my "actual still (vodka, Gin ,Whisky, etc.) A large 12" butterfly valve would open/close the chimney and a small 3-4" butterfly valve (12") would separate the lyne arm /condenser from the mashtun chimney, allowing one of the systems to be used per day. Has anyone done this or seen it done? This is hopefully and short term solution until expansion plans and funds are economically viable. thanks, Doug
  2. I'm starting up a (very) micro distillery and looking for a solution for an electric stripping still. We're going to be distilling off-grain with electric heat to start to avoid the need for a boiler system. I've got my spirit still sizing/sourcing figured out but I'm having trouble sorting out where to buy/source my stripping still. I need 1000L capacity minimum and I'm trying to avoid a bain marie style still. Most companies I've talked to are recommending not to use electric elements in the stripping still to avoid scorching, but I know people who are using electric with low watt density elements and having no issues or off flavours. Thoughts? Recommendations for companies who can provide such a still?
  3. Hello all I know there have been other discussion threads talking about stripping in a mash tun. I have a 4000 L mash and a 1300 L Kothe hybrid still. Right now, we are finding that our stripping runs are one of the weak links in increasing production. We have done some preliminary investigation on modifying our mash to become a stripping still of considerable size. Does anyone out there have specific experience with this size of Still/tank? Or does anyone have specific experience with this brand.? Any advice you could provide would be much helpful! Thank you all in advance, jeremiah
