Blackheart
Yeah, just checked: 5-7 pH in an adult goat. The mean gastric for a weaned pig: 2.9 to 4.4 (we're likely currently in that range, but I need to double check). Another diversion. woot!
fldme
Our thick stillage gos to farmers at about a pH of 3.
Blackheart
Ours was same. It was the freaking pigs, not the goats, that were losing weight. And as it happens, the farmer really hadnt been trained in finishing hogs. Was shoveling them 'used' produce in between mash availability and wondering why their protein levels were diminished and weight was falling off. lol
PeteB
Bill Owens told me a story of a farmer who accidentally picked up mash before it was distilled. The pigs got drunk and two young boars attacked the older one and killed him!!
Les Trois Clocher
I've always thought it would be awesome to build an anaerobic digester and produce some methane to help run the still from the spent grain while producing good fertilizer to help grow the crop... very expensive to set-up and a hole lot of paperwork but I think in the long run might be worth it. Anyone doing this?

Artisan Still Design
I read an article on a brewery that burn their spent grains, produced enough heat and electricity to dry the grains before burning, to run the entire brewery and sell back to the grid. http://www.foxnews.c...laskan-brewery/
