Distiller for Sourland Mountain Spirits

 

 

Description:

 

Sourland Mountain Spirits is looking for a friendly, hard-working and dependable individual to serve as Distiller. We are a craft distillery placed on a farm in beautiful Hopewell, NJ, which focuses on local ingredients and a farm-to-bottle concept. We are located about seven miles from downtown Princeton and 38 miles from Philadelphia. We currently produce gin and vodka. In the future, we will produce whiskey, apple brandy, Cuban style rum, and eaux de vie.

 

 

Hours: Full-Time, 40 per week; weekend work

Salary: Commensurate with experience and education

Duties: Lead the distillation process and day-to-day operations which include, but are not limited to:

·       Distillation,

·       Equipment cleaning,

·       Grain milling, mashing, fermentation,

·       Barreling,

·       Packaging,

·       Giving Tours of the distillery,

·       Completing necessary paperwork for a variety of TTB and company requirements, associated with production

Applicant Must Have:

 

·       2 years of experience in a production distilling or brewing environment,

·       Good mechanical skills,

·       A full understanding of cleaning and sanitation procedures,

·       Willingness and ability to work at least 40 hours per week while maintaining a flexible schedule, including working evening and weekends, as necessary,

·       A positive attitude,

·       Strong orientation towards quality control and safety,

·       Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities while focusing on detail,

·       Good time management skills

 

 

Competencies: Applicant must be dependable, hardworking, professional, and dedicated to working safely. Applicant must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., have valid a driver's license, and a clean driving record.

Education/Experience: Requires high school diploma. College degree with a focus on STEM is preferred. Experience in distilling/brewing (including home distilling/brewing), fermentation, yeast propagation, fractional distillation, and/or chemical analysis is necessary.
