Hello, All! Happy to be here!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! Tony Burkett here, recently retired after 35 years in the chemical industry and just getting my feet on the ground with the intention of starting a small craft distillery (A.S. Burkett & Family) here in southern Wisconsin later this year.  We'll be far closer to artisan than anything even remotely resembling a state-of-the-art operation... hoping to be in initial production of Brandy and Grappa by end of 2017, with hopes of expanding to a Straight Bourbon, Straight Rye and a Single Malt in the near future.

Would be greatly appreciative of any and all recommendations for assistance in developing a suitable business plan and forming an LLC

LLC is straightforward. Business plan is a smart idea, even if just for yourself. Deciding location, market, and scope is first order of business. Making the hooch is the easy part in some ways. If you are planning to do it in southern Wisconsin, and you have an idea of what you want to make, recommend you consider contract distilling one or two things to start, there is a great place to work with for that in Madison.
