Fire codes and fire code officials

I spent 22 of my 29 years in the fire service with code enforcement responsibilities. I retired in 2009 and recently became aware of your industry when I was asked to address some issues related to blending operations and local code officials in another state. As I read the forum posts I see where inaccurate code interpretation is not an isolated problem. I would like to hear from as many of you as possible who have had been frustrated with their local/state code officials in regards to their interpretation and application of fire codes to your operations and/or start-up proposals. I'm trying to get a better perspective of what you have been through in this area of trying to run your business. Go ahead and rant to me if you want. You can reply to this post or email me at srdalbey@gmail.com. I believe I can be a good resource for others who are running into state and local government code interpretations. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I'll add this. You can respond to me at srdalbey@gmail.com, or call me at 563 299-2888. Sometimes electronic media is less efficient than just talking.
