  1. We have been using eventbrite. It's not perfect, but it does most of what we need. It's free if you do not charge for tickets (our tours are free but require reservations). There is a cool little calendar widget that you can put on your site as well.
  2. Interesting. Our water is not what us Floridians would call hot, but it can be pretty warm in the summer (maybe 90 or 95 F). That is when we had the problem. I'll cool the water first in the future and see if we still run into the problem. Thanks!
  3. We use room temperature RO water. It can be pretty warm in the summer here. Are you suggesting hot water? Or not hot water?
  4. Thanks. I've tried to contact Distillery Solutions a few times but no response yet. I'll take a look at Old Pogue.
  5. Thanks Pete. I will experiment with that. So far though it seems to be dependent on the specific filters that I use. The same setup process works fine with one set of filters but fails with another set. Repeatedly. So I suspect that either the filters are defective or I somehow damaged them.
  6. Without the filter it flows very fast. Put the filters in and it gets very slow. It will only flow through two heads at once and extremely slow at that. This is true of the .2s and the .5s.
  7. They are made for the Enolmaster so they should be made for liquid. Is it possible to damage them with too much vacuum before they are fully submersed?
  8. Two different micron sizes. .2 and .5. Flow is fine without the filters in place. They are extremely slow flowing before anything other than r/o water has touched them. Other filters from the same source work fine. Not sure if these are defective or what.
  9. Just put some new cartridges in the enolmaster. Opened the bypass valve. Tried to filter r/o water through to rinse them. The vacuum ran up to 55 or so. Hose from filter housing unit to filler was partially collapsing due to not being able to pull the water through the filters. Turn on bypass or take the filters out and it pumps through fine. These are brand new filter cartridges. This is the second time this has happened. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Or can these cartridges be defective?
  10. As of July 1st, 2013, Florida allows limited sales through a "gift shop" located at the distillery. We are only allowed to sell two containers per year per person. Not sure of what information the state is going to require us to track to verify that someone doesn't buy more than two per year yet.
  11. We use 1000 ml cylinders. Check www.coleparmer.com. You can get them in a variety of materials including pyrex.
  12. Our 750 ml bottles are Vida from Vitro. Would like to find a 1.75 that looks like it's from the same family. Current 750 ml bottle shot attached.
  13. We use a bottle-matic on tapered bottles. Works great.
  14. Looking for 2500 to 3000 liter jacketed fermentation tanks. Any suggestions on stateside suppliers?
  15. As I recall, the feds consider the shipping case as if it is advertising. It needs to meet the same basic requirements. ABV, etc...
  16. 1) The manual device we use is our hands. 2) Tapi has some nice single piece injection molded bartops that won't come apart like the combination wood/synthetic corks will do so often.
  17. Keeping the google bots out would actually be very simple without impacting the user experience if that is what you want. Simply create a robots.txt file and you can direct the major search engines on what parts of the site, if any, to index. I personally don't have a problem with discussion on here being public. Just keep it in mind when you post.
  18. Thanks guys. I have PBW that I use on my fermentation tanks. I'll give that a try.
  19. We are using a benchtop still to proof our spiced rum due to the dissolved solids. Everything works great other than cleaning the mess out of the glass flask after doing a run. Basically, it has baked on sugars that are a pain to remove. Any suggestions on how to clean the flask?
  20. We settle solids out by mixing the molasses with hot water and letting it settle for a few days in a conical mash tank.
  21. Fyi... for those that may be looking for a solution to this problem in the future - in our case it was the bottles. Our newer bottles from the same manufacturer do not have this same problem. It is only with older ones from before they changed their method of manufacture.
  22. I absolutely agree with the author. Cash flow projections are extremely important, but analyzing every possible detail of a business in a formal written plan seems a not so good use of time. One of the main keys to success in any business is flexibility. I've seen more than one example of slavishly following a business plan and turning off the creative juices that are such a large part of reason successful entrepreneurs are successful. I've never had more than a spreadsheet for a "business plan". That doesn't mean that I didn't think through all of the important aspects of marketing, product, etc... To say that you should just donate the money to charity instead is flippant and not accurate as shown by the studies mentioned in the article.
