  1. Thanks for suggestions. Still in conversation with manufacturers, but ill keep those ideas in mind.
  2. Don’t know - doesn’t say on website and im still trying to get someone who might know from manufacturer but having trouble there too. That’s why I want to test the liquid.
  3. We are thinking of placing a few submerged temperature sensors inside some of our barrels so we can compare temps of air vs liquid, and how far liquid lags behind air temp. Want to use these simple sensors https://ambientweather.com/amwh31p.html and have let one sit in a sample jar full of new make for 6 months with no visible signs of any deterioration. But now we want to test the liquid to make sure there wasn't any leaching of the plastic. While it is weather-proof, it isn't necessarily food-safe. Asking the manufactureres, but because its a use they hadn't planned on, they don't really know. Anyone know of a test that can tell if any plastic leached into ethanol sample?
  4. We are in Central Texas and there used to be a mobile bottling operator here that went of business a few years ago. Most I've found specialise in wine and beer and are located on the west coast. We are too small to make that kind of distance worthwhile, especially with increased transpo costs right now.
  5. Carbon black is made from petroleum products, not charred wood. 6.1 Carbon Black
  6. In some states, like Texas, in order to sell a spirit as your own, you have to "rectify" it, even if you TIB it in. There is some dispute over exactly what "rectifiying" means to Texas, but I've usually understood it to mean that if you buy 190 proof GNS, you can't just add water to it to bottle it, you have to run it through a still at least once to pass muster. I believe this is how a certain large litigous Texas vodka maker does it. How this applies to aged product purchases is what is in dispute, but you can see that this requirement would trump the new TTB reg by actually distilling the product.
  7. ACSA made this attached form available. Note that it is a Canadian form, so I wouldn't use it as is. But to ship hazmat, you need an emergency contact number available 24/7 on the BOL and there are companies who provide this service. I found Infotrac to be much less expensive for 1 year than Chemtrec, AND Infotrac included creating a proper MSDS in their fee. For less than $300, I highly recommend them. 8. Hi Stumpy, don't know if you still have any but could be interested in some of those.
  9. Still Austin Whiskey Co. in Austin, TX (map)is seeking a group of reliable part time bottlers for approx 16-24 hours per week. These would be 8 hour days, between 2-3 days a week, generally during the work week, but some shifts may occur on weekends occasionally. Involves standing for long periods of time. Lifting generally no more than 15-20 pounds. Products to be bottled vary. Must be available at least two days a week. Pay up to $13/hr, depending on experience. Starting as early as Weds 2/13/19.
