  10. Thanks. Your Cape spirit in SA is definitely superior to what we get in Zimbabwe. I have engaged with PALL for a carbon solution called SUPRAdisk that looks rather promising. Will keep you updated
  11. Thanks for all the help. I have got hold of PALL here, and they have a carbon filtration system that it looks like we will trial. I will give you all feedback
  12. thanks, I have done so, doing the trial version
  13. I understand the 2% part, hhoowver what ratios of sugar to water + citric do you use to make the sugar syrup?
  14. Question- Would it make financial sense to distill the Ethanol? or just try to find a solution to filter it correctly?
  15. Thank you, I am learning this. Smirnoff in Zimbabwe , uses imported Cane spirit from sa and a little local cane, this is due to your cane being better.
  16. Thank you for your input. Cane based ethanol has a very distinct and harsh finish when you dilute it straight away. This is what we call cane- Mainstain. So we need douse the same cane base spirit and make it vodka. By law we have to filter this for it to be called vodka. We have Smirnoff bottled under licence here in Zimbabwe using cane based spirit, I am told they filter this in pressurized column to try get it a smooth as possible. We don't have the capital outlay right now to be able to do that, so we are looking at advise to see how we can get get tot he same finished product "vodka"
  17. Thank you I found out I can get .45 micron filters would they work? My question is if I get slightly larger carbon 6 x 8 or 8 x12, the supplier will wash and dry them for me. Would it be necessary to get these filters, as the project will cost me another $2000 as I need to purchase a 20plate filter
  18. Good Evening, We ran our Ethanol through our carbon, for some reason there was a lot of carbon dust, so the final product was dark. We decided t filter this through 1micron 20" filters x 4 , we got most of the darkness if not all out of it. However now its slightly cloudy . Would anyone shed some light as to why this would of happened? And how to correct it.
  19. Sorry for such a simple question when you say saturated. Do you mean leave what ever is in it after you drain it? we started with 430litres drained it, got a net amount of 410 so still 20litres in the Colums. so we should leave this and get the Benidorm in the next run?
  20. We use cane based ethanol, if we do the traditional method that I am reading about here, dilute to 40% with ro water, in America they call it vodka, in Zimbabwe we call they cane, we have to filter it, but we can add a plain vodka flavor to make vodka.
  21. I am definitely going to target 50% not he next run. Do we leave ro water in the filters when not using so the carbon doesn't dry out?
