I have been fortunate to have inherited some Norit NOX 0.8 carbon but in my search for more I find it for about $800 for a 40 lb bag. That's unrealistic considering many carbons are available for under $2.00/lb. Can anyone recommend carbons and suppliers they are using for spirit polishing? Thanks.

That's right, they are specific but that same CFR describes what to do if you wish to use locks of an "unusual design". In our case (Free Spirit Distilling of Montana), we made such a submission that was approved and it involved locks that met or exceeded the characteristics described in the CFR but that fit our conditions better.
