Well it has been a great ride but I have to get off the roller coaster. I have been at it for 4 years and must sell or close my Distillery. My short coming is lack of funds for and the understanding of MARKETING. We are a fully operational / functioning Distillery. I cannot do it all myself and have been unable to find a partner. Tun has a 2" TC drain with the dome bottom it drains 100% Very easy to clean. This is a great tun with mixer ready to plug in and go. Send me an offer willing to deal need to get it out of my way.

I got the tun a few years ago. I have added a food grade wet bearing to the bottom of the tank for the shaft to mount to. I did this to stabilize the mixer. We also did some motor mount repairs "stainless seems welds". I will throw in a 3ph to 3ph VFD to control the RPMs. This motor is a beast. you can start with 200 deg. water add your grain and no dough balls after about 5min. I used steam injection, tank is insulated and will hold 190 to 200 for about 3 hours if needed. I have replaced the cooling spray bar pipe. The pipe goes around the inside of the tank and sprays the cooling water on the shell of the tank. Cools from 190 to 90 in about 45min. If you go to my Facebook page "Tryon Backdoor Distillery"and look in the video section you can see it running in two videos. I have a new to me 500 gallon tun and don't need this one anymore. I am asking $4900. I can deliver on east coast for one was gas cost. It will take a forklift to get it of the truck. Hope the pics work.

VFD is the best way and you can control the RPM as well.

Can you really get outta the RED. I finally have enough data to do a real P&L. and I really don't know how I am going to do it. Sales have not been that good and the only way to make it is in volume.

For the permit I had a six gallon still. Then a 38 gallon after permit. Then a 150 gallon stripper to feed the 38 gallon. I am installing a 500 gallon stripper right now to feed a 60 gallon. I always double distill, it was the way I learned. I have not spent 20k yet on all of the above. I wish I could have started with the 500 after permit but I didn't look hard enough. I also got all of my equipment from non distilling suppliers and never told them it was for a distillery or prices always went up. Used dairy and food processing equipment is cheap find a good welder and you can save a TUN of money but it does take a lot of leg work and the ability to the out of the box. All this in 2 years. For the safety readers All pressure, anti vacuum, venting and piping is a must when going this route.

I think the more money that you have available the bigger the budget. I mean if you want to start with a 3-4k 25-30 gallon still 55 barrel fermentor that's great. If you want to start with a 10-15k 150 column then you should scale the same. Your budget should reflect the size you want to start at. But if you start small be ready to scale up, if you don't want to work 10 -12 hour days. I don't see what size you are looking at starting at ? what do you want your daily production to be ? Is this going to be your only source of income ? I think you would get better responses if you shared your goals.

Make sure you include post sales / production experiences. That's what is hitting me hard right now. Nice to finally have cash coming in but it ALL goes right back out to keep production moving forward and upward.

That's about my grain bill. If I don't use added enzymes I end up with about 4 Brix un-ferment able sugars.

I was a programmer and System / Database Engineer for 20+ years. I tried it, to me it needs a great deal of refinement for the money. It works great and if you are making that kinda money then it might be wroth it. For me just starting and not even bring in the monthly fee I could not justify it. It's all about supply and demand. I hope he does well but I do not see the CRAFT Distiller being able to afford it for long and will go back to the pen and paper like I did. Donald has been VERY nice to me and has helped me with my problems the best he could when I have needed him. Thank you

I got mine from Fred last week. No problems.

I am done doing the bean counting as most of my projections have been off or out of my control waiting on others. Marking research is good but until you have a product on the self or in hand everyone you see will say they will buy it but getting them to the ABC store is something else. I am not letting any of these problems slow me down. Keep on keeping on.

To much math, to much marking, not enough cash, full production in one year, 1000 cases 1st year. Who is going to be your broker to push that much of a new product in the first year. Where are you building the distillery. Contact me if you like.
