  1. Thanks everyone. Most posts mirror my thoughts. Makes sense to mash, bulk storage and age in industrial site at a few dollars a square foot; and have store and finishing still at visitor friendly site on small footprint in high traffic area. Would expect transportation cost to be far less then savings for back room space. Maybe will find the perfect spot or as grow be able to marry the two spaces back up. Hope to locate and contract space shortly then get rolling on Fed permit. First reply got it in one as NJ. So have to wait until Dec 1 to file state application but hope to have location firmed up and equipment lined up the then. Thanks Again.
  2. Does anyone warehouse filled barrels off site. I am looking to have still production and sales room in high traffic downtown location and warehouse bulk spirits storage off site at cheaper warehouse space. State requires "tour" to sell direct to public so need a still and small bottling set up at storefront. If allowed can we transport barrel in our own truck from store/production site to warehouse?
  3. it would seem you could always use the small still for test batches and recipe developement
  4. Got reservations at the Galt house on priceline name your price for $80 a night
  5. I think buy american is good and would always pay 10-20% more for american of equal qulity. The problem is when American cost 2-3 times more. Maybe as industy grows we will see more competitive U.S. manufacturers.
  6. I went in the Spring. This is a great class for someone just beginning to put together a business plan.
  7. Thanks everyone. If anyone wants to bid on label and product developement with our start up just send me and e-mail
  8. where did they put these in and what are they making? any reason they are using SS body instead of copper?
  9. What should you expect to pay for someone to develope a brand name, logo and label designs? We are starting up a winery and distillery and are looking to develope a brand logo for each and paper labels and screne printed bottles.
  10. what would price be if the body was copper instead of stainless? any photos of finished units?
  11. Thanks all. I have to produce on my farm what I process so I am looking at the options of Corn, Barley and also considering Rye, honey and a few other options.
  12. Anyone out there growing their own corn and/or two row barley and sending it out to be processed/malted, or does everyone who grows their own do their own processing? If you are processing it yourself can you point me towards information on what is involved. If you send it out is there anyone on the East cost processing the grain and can you give me their contact info? I figure corn is easy to deal with probably just grind it, but malting barley is clearly more involved.
