  1. Nice looking bottles and labels Travis. When the snow melts I'll make a point to come see you. Brian
  2. Good morning! We have an opportunity to move our tasting room from a rather industrial, off-the-beaten-path location, to a high-traffic area in a very cool Main Street building. My question is, what kind of hoops do you need to jump through to make this happen at the Federal level. I don't think we'll have any problem with the state or the city. The rent is $250/month and we can be in there before Christmas. We have t-shirts, books and, of course, our vodka (soon gin and whiskey) to sell. Thank you. Cheers/ Brian
  3. How big is your boiler? 20 hours seems like a long time.
  4. Donald has been great to work with as we get our distillery up and running and he is constantly working to improve the software. We're sticking with Whiskey Systems!
  5. Mountain Rose has been a delight to work with.
  6. Purple Flexwing sounds more sexy than Glidetech, but I'm sticking with Glidetech!
  7. Why does the song Red Barchetta from Rush suddenly come to mind?
  8. I applaud everyone who goes against the status quo, but physics is a tough nut to crack!
  9. I'm with Smoogdog! If anything we should be working together to lobby state/city governments to lessen the regulations and requirements for distilleries. I have an inspector who is telling me I can't put a floor trough in my distillery because it will encourage high-proof alcohol to go down the drain.
  10. +1 to Jake at Mainely Engraving. Our glasses are fantastic!
  11. +1 Tom We had our bottle labels professionally printed by Trysk in Seattle, but we printed our own labels for our cartons using a digital copier.
  12. I can't imagine it would be cheaper to print in-house unless you have the volume and expertise to make it worthwhile. While we found labels to be a bit less expensive and more suited to our logo, our quotes on screen printed glass seemed reasonable. Check out the folks at http://www.monvera.com/
  13. Really? When kids are soaking tampons with alcohol and inserting them in the various nether regions why are we getting worked up over this? We need to educate young people about the dangers of alcohol. End of story.
  14. They approved Fireball. Okay, but seriously, I think it will be a very niche product that could do well in the survivalist/zombie-apocalypse market. It seems like a product you take hiking or on a raft trip - places where weight and glass could be an issue. I think their early marketing efforts set off some very big alarm bells, but the idea of snorting this makes absolutely no sense.
  15. We're about 2 weeks away from opening our tasting room. We have our federal and state permits and were in the process of getting our local permit through the city of Lewiston. Since we're the first distillery in our city there seems to be some confusion as to what kinds of licenses we need. Some of the officials are suggesting we need a retail liquor license. And the county is looking at treating us like a grocery store. Just curious what others in Idaho have gone through. Thanks, Brian
  16. We're using Whiskey Systems for liquor and QB Online along with Square for our point-of-purchase.
