  1. It also matter what you're making. With rum, you need to go deeper into the tails to get all of your essential rum oils.
  2. Swede from AD may be able to help. His website: www.distillerycontrols.com
  3. What a treat it was to watch the iStill 250 in action! I've watched all your videos and read about the productivity rates on these units, but it never really hit me until I got to see it up close and personal. To see 20 gallons of gin, before proofing, cranked out in 6 hours (including heat-up time) just blew me away. Seeing is believing, for sure. Especially when the iStill 250 is running at the same time as the $180,000+ Holstein and producing the same quantity of hearts... in less time! Don't get me wrong... the Holstein is a beautiful work of art that I would love to own someday, but the iStill 250 is something I could afford to buy right now. And the Holstein won't make the cuts for you, to boot. Thanks for everything Edwin! As you can tell I am overwhelmingly impressed with your stills. High yield, fast times, and computer controlled EVERYTHING. Bravo!
  4. If you know anyone with a wood shop, they work amazing for cleaning the pine pitch and other saps from wood-saw blades. I don't know if you can market them for that purpose, but they do work well for it. They also work pretty well in the old white gas camping stoves and lanterns if the proof is high enough.
  5. "Keeping your day job is probably a good recommendation for most." That's where I'm at. I'm part owner of a successful manufacturing company. I like my job and make great money. Operating a distillery is somewhat of a pipe dream for me. I have every intention of doing it and plan to do it slowly so I can finance it all myself, but it will have to be done outside of my regular work hours. I want it to be my retirement job, and I'm only 33 so I have some time to work with. However, I'd like to retire by 50 (yeah, right) so I should probably get moving.
  6. Greetings! I'm a mechanical engineer for a manufacturing company. The art and science of distilling are very interesting to me. I hope to own a distillery at some point later in my life. I'm very interested in the design & fabrication of distilling equipment, as well as the processes involved in distilling. While these are just interests at this point in my life (I own a company that takes up too much of my time), I hope to someday retire and focus on these interests. I joined the ADI at the end of last summer and had full intentions of attending the upcoming conference, but my wife and I are having another child due March 28th. Maybe next year! For now, it's research.
