Assistant Distiller - Part Time (2nd shift) Blinking Owl Distillery - Santa Ana, California The Blinking Owl Distillery, Orange County’s first distillery, is looking for a part time entry level distiller, and full time all around awesome person, who wishes to nerd out on every aspect of the distilling process, from our organic local grain to our fun and colorful custom bottle. Job Description: The Assistant Distiller (2nd shift) will work with the Head Distiller on all aspects of production, including; facilities maintenance, packaging, bottling, filtration and proofing, shipping/receiving, milling, mashing, fermenting, distilling spirits, and cleaning. You’ll get to do a lot of distillery cleaning, more cleaning, and then some more cleaning. The Assistant Distiller position will be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Successful candidates need not possess production experience in a distillery. Ultimately the Assistant Distiller will be expected to grow into roles of increasing responsibility and leadership as determined by the needs of the distillery and demonstrated ability of the employee. This is a real, working, tough, and fun job at a truly authentic distillery. General Duties and Responsibilities include: Detailed cleaning and maintenance of the distillery and equipment. Brewing and distilling operations. Shipping/receiving, packaging, bottling, filtration, proofing, milling, mashing, fermentation, and distillation. Regular forklift, scissor lift, and ladder use. Regular use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Filling containers, weighing, and gauging of spirits in stainless containers and barrels. Conducting lab analysis such as monitoring mash pH, measuring enzymes, and handling of acids and caustics per the cleaning regime. Count, record, monitor and control all inventory per TTB laws and regulations. Track compliance and production metrics for all distilled spirits produced on site via product management software. Minimum Requirements: Be accountable, reliable, and professional. Be precise and detail oriented. Have a proven ability to work with little to no supervision and be able to follow directions. Preferred Experience: Possess a strong mechanical background with plumbing or electrical experience. Have experience with boiler, reverse osmosis water, soft water, and chiller operations. Forklift and scissor lift certification. Have used Stillhouse product management software. Physical Requirements: Ability to reach overhead frequently with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch on concrete. Ability to lift and/or move at least 75 pounds, employing traditional lifting methods. Ability to work in physically taxing conditions and work in hot and cold conditions.   2. Still Austin Whiskey Co. in Austin, TX (map)is seeking a group of reliable part time bottlers for approx 16-24 hours per week. These would be 8 hour days, between 2-3 days a week, generally during the work week, but some shifts may occur on weekends occasionally. Involves standing for long periods of time. Other job duties will be assigned as needed, including giving distillery tours, assisting in the tasting room, distillery cleaning, more distillery cleaning, and then some more distillery cleaning. HOURS: PART TIME This position involves evening and possibly weekend hours General Duties and Responsibilities include: Detailed cleaning and maintenance of the distillery and equipment as directed. Regular fork lift, scissor lift, and ladder use. Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as directed while in the production area and while performing certain duties, including handling of chemicals and grain. Filling, weighing, gauging and movement of pallets, stainless steel spirit containers, and barrels. Conduct lab analysis to include, but not limited to; monitoring mash pH, adding measured acids and enzymes per written recipes and procedures, handle acids and caustics per cleaning regime. Count, record, monitor and control all inventory per TTB laws and regulations. Track compliance and production metrics for all distilled spirits produced on site via an online cloud based software program. Receive freight deliveries. Brewing and distilling operations. Occasionally assist with tasting room operations as needed. Applicant Qualifications and Requirements: Previous distilling/brewing experience not required. Accountability, reliability, and professionalism are most desirable qualifications. Be precise and detail oriented. Proven ability to work with little to no supervision and be able to follow directions. Willing to work occasional long hours, including evenings and weekends. Strong mechanical background a plus. Experience in the beverage or food industry a plus. Physical Requirements: Ability to reach overhead frequently with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch on concrete. Ability to lift and/or move at least 75 pounds, employing traditional lifting methods. Ability to work in physically taxing conditions and work in hot and cold conditions. Forklift certification is a plus. The applicant will be subject to a background check and must have a clean driver's license and 2 references.
