starcat
This is a typical F&T steam trap made by Spirax Sarco. You just install a ball valve on the bottom port of the casting so you can always clean it out regular.
Ray Wohlfarth
Lift Condensate: To lift the condensate back to the header requires about one pound of pressure to raise water 2.33 feet. The inverted bucket trap you have should be able to do that. You will need a check valve on the outlet of the trap. If you are looking to raise the water ten feet, you will need about 4 1/2 pounds of steam pressure. One of the considerations is the minute your steam valve starts to close, you will not have the pressure needed to lift the condensate. Care has to be used as cool standing water can cause Condensate Induced Water Hammer. This is a rapid condensation of the steam and it can be like you crushing a soft drink can. See that video on the discussion where it collapses the train car. Ray with Brewingwithsteam.com
