Donutboy
question for all that use or know of folks using plastic FVs Where can one inquire about these large capacity units that have the ability to be forked and have lids? I know that I've seen one in a youtube video but I can't find it and it's driving me crazy. Thanks for your response. Roy

Sherman
http://www.bascousa....s-u1413300.html this is a very economical fermenter. If you already have these and just need replacement parts such as gaskets or lids try folowing the links on their pages. They also have replacement bottles for the IBC's
Donutboy
Thank you, folks. Those Kothe units are what I was seeing in the youtube video. I'd love to hear if anyone has experience with them or any other economical fermenters similar. Roy
Oregon Spirit Distillers
Roy, I have 5 1000liters I got from Kothe. They work great. They are sturdy, forklift-able, very cleanable, and round (even heat from yeast). I can't imagine using anything cheaper. Donutboy
Thanks, Brad I've submitted a request for a tour tomorrow (thursday) on your website, think that's possible? Roy
Palmetto Coast
Depending on the need for a forklift and size required, you might also want to look at these: https://plasticstoragetanks.com/cgi-bin/store52/agora.cgi?xm=on&product=Open_Top_Tanks_PE&ppinc=tanks&maxp=20 They carry, 200, 350 and 500 gallon open top tanks with lids. Jim J
If you look around, you can find used "passport drums", (they are rectangular plastic food grade containers) with a 2" valved outlet for around $100 each. They come in 275 gallon and 500 gallon. Make sure you get used food storage drums, and not oil drums. This is what Sherman has attached to his post. Used is good if you are carful what they originally were used for.
ammocrypta
To cool or not to cool? I'm assuming most on this particular thread are not worrying about cooling their fermentations. What about your kettles or mash tuns? Working with small enough quantities that you can get by without chillers? Chris
MG Thermal Consulting
I was wondering the same thing. Mike
