excogitationist
How are people handling their juniper berries in a gin basket? Are people grinding the juniper or leaving it whole? Same question for the coriander. Thanks, -t
Artisan Still Design
I've seen it done both ways, but grinding does give more surface area. but if you are going to grind, minimize the amount of time between the grind and distillation. the longer its exposed to oxygen the more flavor is lost. Edwin
Crushed berries and coriander will bring over more taste. Edwin.
JohninWV
Grind it. Put it in a cheesecloth bag and put it in the basket.
bluestar
Grind it. Put it in a cheesecloth bag and put it in the basket. We crush rather than grind, but yes, in cheesecloth. Don't even have a basket, just hang the bag ;-)
BrnBtlFlzy
Bluestar, do you mean that you hang your botanical load in the pot or column? Is it in the liquid, or just in contact with the vapor?
