Shindig
Hello all! Just trying to get a handle on the start-up,in Michigan, for a craft distillery. I have heard, from a distiller in Northern Michigan, that there are very strict advertising and market rules that apply. He said he can not even wear his distillery tshirt at local events like beer tents! Does anyone know where a list of these rules can be found? Anyone want to share their story of the good/bad/ugly business of advertising/marketing ? Cheers! bluestar
Call the state, they will tell you. But yes, distillers have tighter regs on them than wine or beer makers.
Shindig
Thanks BlueStar! I consider myself a good internet snoop but always have trouble finding good reliable government information........
bluestar
Start with the "Michigan Liquor Control Code, Rules & Related Laws" from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission. It compiles all the relevant sections of Michigan law for liquor into 300 pages. Most everything you need can be found at the MLCC web site in LARA.
