bourbonstill Posted May 28, 2013 Share Posted May 28, 2013 What should the hose for pumping 140 proof alcohol be made of? We are hoping to use a clear hose, but it doesn't really matter. Did not indicate size, temperature, etc. Assuming you are room temp moving volumes of final spirit, semi-rigid polyethylene is typical and can support vacuum on back side of pumping. Usually milky white. Cheap up to 5/8". We use with smaller air-driven diaphragm pumps for pumping high proof spirits. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rich Morgan Posted May 29, 2013 Share Posted May 29, 2013 A food service hose with a EPDM core. EPDM is usually rated to 160 Proof. But check with your sepcific supplier. Definiely no PVC.
