Huffy2k
Good idea? Bad idea? Any chance of the chemicals leeching through the barrel?
bluestar
Are these racks going to be outdoors? If not, Wolmanizing may be overkill, it is an exterior treatment. Standard Wolmanized wood has chromium, copper, and arsenic (CCA) compounds to impede various sources of rot. You should not need that for interior use, unless you are planning to wash things down regularly, in which case, don't use wood. If you are going to use treated wood, limit it to floor plates or bases that might see regular exposure to water when washing down floors and such. We have built our small barrel ricks with regular pine studs, that works fine.
