Whether or Not MicroShiner is a Good Name for a Craft Media Company

There seems to be a lot of opinion around this, so we thought we would open ourselves to your abuse.

Perhaps this way our other posts can be consider on their own merit.

Ha! I love the magazine! No its not! But - finding the right kind of name is no easy thing! Nevertheless, don't let that slow you down from making good quality media.

It's not the worst, but it's also not great. "Micro" in general strikes me as a lazy word. Easy to come up with, and not denoting much. Lots of other company names use "micro" as part of their name, notably Microsoft. With that name in mind, it has connotations of the computer industry, which seems at odds with the intended audience.

Depends on what you want to convey. If you want to appeal to the majority of craft distillers that are really trying to make a go of it as a business, it is a bad choice. Most don't think of themselves as 'shiners. If you are trying to appeal to both the turbo-yeast driven hobbyists and the producers of near-neutral spirits in the garage, it is the perfect title.
