  1. Any ideas on USA based companies that create removable lauter screens for mash tuns?
  2. Lisa, I did purchase the Rudolph equipment with the obscuration attachment. I haven't put it to proper use yet as we aren't up and running, but you should cross-reference between a bench top (1 liter still) just to calibrate your readings. I'll be happy to help you as you're not that far away (free of charge...). You have my contact.

  3. UK production in two locations versus USA production in two locations. Bottling in one or both locations within the country of production?
  4. What's the budget? For necessities, - hand-held density meter - all ranges of alcohol hydrometers - pH meter (needs calibrating on a regular basis) - multiple sized beakers and graduated cylinders for blending/testing/trial proofing - scales for measuring in grams/kilograms - thermometer for random testing of temps (you should have thermometers on all of your tanks and lines) - water testing equip or a lab nearby to test for you - TTB desktop density meter (add-on for obscuration) - bigger ticket item ~ $30000 - smaller scale glass distillation apparatus - smaller scale copper distillation apparatus (1-2 liter) - microscope (along with plates/medium, etc if necessary) - Methylene Blue - Is RO in your processing plan for water? - DISCUS manual and Fire Code Manual - Tables, Shelving, Fire Extinguishers, Eye Wash Station If you are really going big then GCMS or HPLC - But you will need to hire someone to operate them or train yourself. - Super Big Ticket Item You can always call me - we met at ACSA!
  5. Who does everyone use for affordable 12 pack boxes?
  6. I'm asking as I haven't gone the route of China yet. Shipping delays must be a beast. Do you have issues with closures fitting?
  7. Looks like: https://www.cnshining.com/product-category/aluminum-bottle might be able to help with your request.
  8. No, We have 4 control spaces each with 240 Gallons - total 960 under roof.
  9. Control Areas. We can't do outside tanks.
  10. Just checking to see what equipment folks are using for fire arresting in their vapor exhaust system. Our AHJ mentioned needing an arrester in our alcohol vapor exhaust path. Currently, there is an explosion proof exhaust fan in the high hat area to withdraw alcohol vapor during distillation. Stills have pressure relief valves and our alcohol storage tanks (Letina) have Vent-211 valves. Feedback appreciated....
  11. If there are secondary market barrel suppliers in the market, then they may know of someone offering this type of product. I know I've seen them but not sure who makes them.
  12. This particular building is a metal shell, enclosed. I didn't want to H3 the entire space just a part of it.
  13. Can you place these containers inside of a non-firewalled building?
  14. It's really more for useable event space upstairs with a kitchen which is on the second floor above the distillery. Kitchen on the same floor at the event space. The space is firewalled without sprinklers. Sprinklers may be a necessity I think in this arrangement but the stove is a gas range....hmmmm. Thoughts?
  15. Is anyone insulating or firewalling 20 ft containers within a warehouse space (not fire rated) to create a storage facility for filled barrel storage or small still footprint? Is this an option rather than having to 2 hour firewall or 1 hour firewall with sprinklers? I've seen foam insulated 20 ft containers with venting used for Barrel storage outside, but was wondering if you could create a "fire-rated" space internally with the containers.
  16. Maybe write to a producer of Sherry in Jerez.
  17. Does anyone have any guidance about a kitchen space area in a distillery? Can the kitchen be located upstairs from the distillery?
  18. Dave is a great resource for many facets of the TTB industry. He's gone a bit quiet but has announced his retirement. Not sure what the real stopping point is at the moment.
  19. Yes, got it. There ends up being a step more with transfer of received alcohol for storage into one of the controlled spaces from an IBC arrival. Right now, this is how we have to operate. I'm working closely with AHJ, EE and others to tightly line up the process. Dalkita is incredibly helpful sifting through the codes and delivering info. Thanks for all weighing in.
