  1. DonMateo, You are on the right track. In the beginning 7+ years ago, distillers made what they drank and sold that. The build it and they will come worked for a while as previously noted. This business is like any other; spot your target market and revolve around that. You are doing that and as you proceed you will see many opportunities. You are not just making booz for travelers, you are enhancing their entire trip experience. That's what you do, how you do it is by making really good spirits. Congrats to you and best of luck. Cheers, Allan
  2. Welcome to the Next Big Thing! If you are looking for education, please consider Artisan Craft Distilling Institute. Here is a video about us. Please call with questions. Best of luck to you in your project. Cheers, Allan
  3. OOPs, The link is in the post now. Thanks!!
  4. Recent article stating about very few of them making money. Ouch.. That is one of the differences of our workshop for the last 7 years. It is a business and planning for the bottom line is as important as that next recipe. Check out our facebook post on this here Still room in our March 14 - 18 workshop. Join Us!
  5. A lot has changed in the 7 years we have been doing training. One of the most interesting is how the market has changed. We used to have people attend that intended to make the spirit they like to drink and then sell it. That is not the case now. Even in other industries in the US; the make it and then go sell it has changed. Now more than ever targeting your customer base is important and recognizing those changes too. Take Millennials, They can order everything off the phone. They demand things Boomers never would think of. This includes the booze they drink. Take a look at our blog post Millennials Move Market Cheers, Deanna

  7. You have a great opportunity. The Charm of the Farm tasting room has a lot of advantages to building your brand. Do not forget to collect names and emails of your new friends to continue establishing relationships. Be sure to work with partners at the resort to offer something else for visitors to do in the area. Just a couple things to think about. Best of Luck, Allan Artisan Craft Distilling Institute

  15. So glad you started this thread. We are trainers who work with distillery startups. We are located in Washington state and have had many Canadians attend our week long workshop. We also have done a workshop in Canada (Prince Edward Island) and are working to set up another one (Nova Scotia). We have put up a tab on our website called Canada. BC has had lots of recent changes as a lot of folks up there. You are in very exciting times for this industry. I am going to post your link in previous reply to the Canada page on our site Artisan Craft Distilling Institute. We look forward to facilitating discussion for Canadians and your unique opportunities in the Provinces. Cheers, Allan
