  1. I just listened to an episode of Distillers Talk with Alan Bishop where he had Jeff from Still Dragon on and they actually talked about this exact thing. Jeff states he has made them before and can make them with off the shelf parts, so I'd give him a call. Jeff Rasmussen 954-638-6626
  2. whats the dimensions on the heat exchanger and where located?
  3. In case you are not able to locate one of these, I have found that the Bottle-Matic does well on tapered labels! https://www.propacksolutions.com/bottle-matic-16-label-applicator.html
  4. I wholeheartedly agree, time to simplify the reporting!
  5. First time running up against this scenario for my December TTB reports and doing these manually without one of the computer programs. I did a spirit run of whiskey, filled two 15 gallon barrels at 110 proof and filled 18 bottles of white dog. I also put some additional proofed down white dog in a stainless vessel for temporary storage while waiting on a bottle shipment. I know the barreled spirits go to storage, bottled as withdrawn for tax payment, but the remainder of the white dog, storage or processing?

I've tested well over 100 samples before choosing the ones that met our flavor and aroma profile best. I may have a contact name for each, but you should be ok just to reach out via their websites. Also, I was able to find out that many of the extracts not specifically on their TTB approved lists do still meet guidelines and may even have TTB approvals. I have found one that I liked best that wasn't on their approval list but the FID sheet did confirm it was approved prior. Just sharing my experience.
  7. Good to know for future cleans. I recently cleaned my plated column and it came out sparkling clean with just a hot PBW cip, then a citric cip, then rinse.
  8. Give Paul from Affordable Distillery Equipment a call, @Southernhighlander
  9. @ryanh appreciate the input. I've spoken with a few others about this and played around a bit in house. In the end, we decided to embrace the color on this particular product, I think it actually goes well with it and stands out of the crowd a bit.
  10. Pretty sure you can ship spirits business to business but I do not use fedex.
  11. I use an activated granular carbon cartridge and it works well enough for me!
  12. @Triangle Distiller it is an RKI PS2, pretty commonly used. I have one as well. I also have a spare for sale but it is a 48v unit that needs a power adapter.
  13. One of my flavored vodkas ended up being colored due to the flavoring. I am not keen on colored spirit in the bottle and would like to clarify it. Is there a filter that would pull the color but not kill the flavor? I have some GFC haze filters and a few different carbon filters but don't want to waste a bunch of finished product trying a few different filters. Any recommendations?
  14. welcome Cody, we've all been in your shoes, some of us fairly recently!
  15. I just received my approval to ship spirits through UPS. Process was easy but took about 2 months for final approval.
  16. Thats a great looking setup Mike. I ended up making my own, sharing my setup.to inspire others.
  17. I can help, I am a Packaging Specialist with Lindenmeyr Munroe by day and supply cartons to many breweries. Shoot me an email if interested in discussing. msehenuk@lindenmeyr.com
  18. I borrowed your idea and made a few revisions. Since I grind smaller than you do I wanted my mesh to have a tighter weave. The tighter mesh is also thinner material so I wanted to add some structure underneath. I used some leftover cattle panel material and cut it to fit tightly inside the poly bin. I also left a bit of a curve in the slope similar to what you see on an industrial sieve. I also bent the lower end of the mesh leaving the outer edges space to overlap the cut in the poly section adding some more strength. I think this method will make it easier to change out the atainless meah if needed. Not wanting to leave it open all the time, I pop riveted a piano hinge in place allowing the top to open and close. Here's a few pics of it before adding my # 20 stainless mesh. All in all I'm pleased. Thanks again for sharing your idea!
  19. Thanks for the update. I might reach out to TWP to see if they are able to send a few small sample pieces of different mesh that I can test with my ground corn. I do grind pretty fine.
