  1. @richard1 can you explain what the siphon tube is connected to and what function it serves?
  2. Jason, did you get this sorted out? Curious as to what worked for you.
  3. @SlickFloss The image below has my contact persons info and link to product below it. Keep in mind there are a large assortment of sizes, this one just happens to be very affordable and suited to my size of operations. https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/hot-sale-screw-press-farm-animal_1600725162367.html? Also, talk to @Silk City Distillers regarding his experience with a unit like this, as his name is on the Kason website which these are basically a copy of so i assume he has one of theirs
  4. @ricahrd1 might as well get on of these direct from China. I know USD delivered is under 2k
  5. Tim, do you feel that #6 mesh is adequate or would you change to a smaller mesh if doing over? Reason I ask is that I grind my grinds very small!
  6. Love it Tim, its these types of things I feel us small distillers on a small budget do well, taking a little creativity and making something useful that others can put into place. Reminds me of my diy bottle rinser! Thanks for sharing and best of luck with your distillery!
  7. TTB's requirements are much easier to meet than your local AHJ. I'd start with your local zoning/codes offices and find out whether their requirements are capable of being met at the proposed site.
  8. Need to pick up a label applicator for my typical whiskey bottles with the slight taper. Preference between the Primera AP362 and the Bottle-Matic 10 for this application? What's your experiences with them? Similar specs and pricing.
  9. why would you need to probe 40" into liquid?
  10. filtering should clear up the oils as well as the cloudiness, but you could also try aerating to help clear up. I found this works pretty well to clear too although wont remove the oils. I picked up some carbon filters and some GFC haze filters from TCW that should also work for this.
  11. I don't see why not. Build a frame with casters and move it wherever you want to. One thing to consider is how do you get your grain to your mash tun etc. For my small size operation I have a mill mounted above a metal garage type storage cabinet and mill into 5 gallon buckets inside the cabinet.
  12. I recommend you download the sample reports TTB has posted. They are color coded to help show some of the data flow.
  13. Keep in mind that there are some more "affordable" units like the DMA35 that see allot of use, but they are not TTB approved. FWIW, I use an EasyDens for my proofing and confirm with a precision glass hydrometer.
  14. Somehow while purchasing tons of equipment and supplies over the last year I ended up with an extra FloJet G70 pump that I don't need. Unit is Brand New in original packaging, packing slip shows shipped 1/23 so its not old. Model number is G70C202A with 3/8 hose barbs. $400 shipped CONUS and its yours.
  15. Sorry to hear of your situation Alex. I've read many of your posts and informative replies on these forums. With your knowledge and experience have you thought about starting a you tube channel? It's not an immediate income but once you have obtained a following it sure can be pretty lucrative.
  16. Good question. i don't make rum so no direct experience here but I've never seen mention of this in any TTB regulations. I think the only specifics regarding barrels is for Whiskey classifications.
  17. East Coast Wood Barrels makes them here in PA and in NY. https://ecwbny.com/ Brendan Johnson Breandanj@ecwbny.com 540-808-9031
  18. Thanks! While gypsum can aid in lowering your water PH, I don't have any experience using it as my spring water is just right. I reread one of your posts and you state your PH is 5.6 - 5.9 after adding the barley and sitting for an hour. I'd say that's probably ok although closer to 5.2 typically makes for happier yeast.
  19. Curious to see what you guys are doing as far as a portable mount for your spirits transfer pump. I think I'm looking for something like a small metal bin/tray/enclosure to mount it to, that way when I set it on a barrel or tote of high proof it will ground to them. Any other special considerations as far as grounding?
  20. Also, I like the AA-400 alpha amylase and GA-150 gluco amylase from fermsolutions. Their AA works at 150-190 and their GA works 110-150. What yeast strain are you using?
  21. PH could also play a part as yours is fairly high. What is your water source?
