looking for russel finex liquid solid separator
Afilters replied to redbluevalley's topic in Wanted To Buy
Are you still looking? I may have a much cheaper mouse trap. Let me know if you are still looking for a unit. Thanks, Alex -
Hi, Is this still an issue? If so, I would be happy to help figure it out. Thanks, Alex

And Indy, did the folks from Kentucky Artisan visit you?

You guys are something! I suggest using a filter pad that has DE embedded in it. The DE will absorb these items that are falling out and, that way, you aren't dealing with DE powder. The floc that is shown in your picture is from fusel oils, tannins, esters, fats, and proteins. Basically, I am offering my lab services to show you how to fix your problem. If you don't want it, you can simply say I don't want it. I would assume if this was a genuine, urgent problem, that most people would want to talk it through as opposed to chat behind a computer screen. I'm not really sure how my original post became so offensive.

This is too complicated for a discussion on a forum. The exact reason why my info is listed.

I would be happy to help you with this. I do this everyday. I am a Graver Representative and do not recommend that cartridge for what you are trying to accomplish. Hi, Sorry it took so long to respond. I do not go on the forum as much as I should. Anyway, I am an Ertel Representative and sell quite a few of these. They work great for the price point! To better answer your question, I need the details on your liquid you want to filter. First of all, what is it. Secondly, how many gallons are in a batch and how much solids are in it? Thanks, Alex

Filtering herbal macerations (Fernet)
Afilters replied to Liquid Riot's topic in Absinthe (and other herbals)
You always have to filter as it is going to presented in the bottle. Never filter before and then add something later. I'd be glad to help you, Alex -
I can help you with this. It's a very simple fix through filtration. Thanks, Alex

Look at all the liquid coming out. A press will give a total dry cake discharge.

You may have to chill it and filter it in order to get the haze out. Chilling causes the separation which in turn allows the filter to remove the haze forming particles. Should not effect any flavors or colors at this stage. If you have more questions, feel free to ask, Alex

Another option for separating grain/wort?

Anyone interested in dewatering, I would be glad to send you more info. Thanks, Alex -
Lets be honest here, none of the screen technologies are going to offer a dewatered cake like the filter press mentioned above.....

It's not a function of fluid dynamics theory. It's a mechanical filtration function.

Greg, By pulling (or suction) on a filter, the particles you are removing with more or less "lay" on the filtration media. If you push through (pressure) you will get better use of the filtration media as you will force debris to be bound in the media. Suction causes premature failure of a filter cartridge. Pressure allows more debris to be imbedded into the actual filter media. If you send me your email, I can forward what I can help with on your haze issue. Thanks, Alex

The type of filtration they are discussing here will have zero effect on color or flavor. Alex
