  1. Hello, I'm currently searching for a co-packer / contract bottler for an RTD. The catch - the packaging is unique and I'll have to have specialized equipment manufactured. So, ideally, the co-packer / contract facility will have the flexibility to fit this equipment into the line and perhaps have some storage space to keep it on site between runs. No restrictions geographically, at this moment. Let me know if anyone has ideas!
  2. Hi All, I'm finishing some whiskey (Straight Bourbon, 21% Rye) in a used red wine barrel. Periodic assessments indicate a detectable, albeit slight, sulfide pickup. I've casually treated the tasting sample with a small piece of copper yielding some good results. So, to do this on a production scale for the finished product, I'm investigating a standardized treatment via copper sulfate. Questions: Has anyone ever attempted trials with Copper Sulfate additions to whiskey for this purpose (akin to winemaking practices)? Would the copper sulfate addition take the product out of compliance? I can find the regs for allowable materials in winemaking (copper sulfate included). I haven't found something similar for spirits (other than allowable color and flavor materials) per 27CFR 5.143(c). If I opt for the physical contact with copper metal route, does anyone have a guideline for time & surface area per unit volume? Regardless, I'll be tooling around with some bench trials. Thanks in advance!
  3. https://barrelbroker.com/collections/barrel-racks Decent racks, decent pricing.
  4. @NateKThompson Thanks for the suggestion! I've seen a larger iStill in operation - the mini could be a viable solution.
  5. Thanks @ViolentBlue! I'll review this with the powers-that-be and get back.
  6. Hello All, I'm seeking a small still for R&D; it would need to be capable of generating neutral spirits. I have tooled around with the Turbo 500 packed column (https://stillspirits.com/products/turbo-500-still); their literature states upper limits of 186 proof, which I was able to reach (188-189, in fact). I wasn't able to get to 190 proof, which I'll need for compliance. I've contemplated fitting the Turbo 500 with a 2" TC adapter and adding a different or taller plated or packed column. However, I'm not sure of the Turbo's heat output (1600 W) being sufficient. So, my questions for the community: Are there columns I could fit on the Turbo 500 that could generate >190 proof spirits with its existing heat output? or Are there other small stills that could get me >190 proof? Some other considerations: The wash would be free from solids, so direct heating elements are fine I don't have access to steam Cost and space are considerations - I'm looking for something less than 15 gallon capacity. Thanks in advance!
