The Head Distiller will be responsible for the day to day leadership and management of the distillation process in Half Moon Bay, California. The individual will lead a small craft Distillery to provide production and maintenance support to ensure the site is achieving its overall goals and objectives.To be a good fit for this opportunity you must have at least five years of distillery operations experience. We are looking for a professional with a solid understanding of fermentation and distillation of Bourbon, Gin & Vodka at a minimum. Key responsibilities and accountabilities Manage the daily activities in the production of high quality spirits Provide strong leadership and effective problem solving Perform maintenance on equipment as needed Understand the functions of pot and column distillations Maintain daily reporting in conjunction with TTB compliance Develop, lead and emphasize Key Performance Indicators of cost, quality, safety and yield, making decisions in supporting these goals Manage annual operating and capital budgets for distillery and warehouse Lead and facilitate employee involved safety team meetings and overall location safety Manage inventory levels of raw goods and materials, including packing and bottles Review daily inspections on raw materials through sight, aroma, test weight, moisture content and foreign material analysis Execute and monitor monthly and annual production schedule ensuring sufficient and timely procurement of raw materials Purchase all required grain and coordinate necessary logistics Be willing to contribute in testing new flavors and experimenting with combinations of ingredients Other duties as assigned Core CompetenciesStrong communicationAnalytical / problem solvingOrganizational skillsTeam-building, and team-working skillsRequirements*Bachelor’s Degree in relevant scientific discipline or equivalent*Should possess a minimum of 5 years distilled spirits or beverage plant experience*Possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills
