Position: Assistant Production Manager / Apprentice Beverage Scientist

Description:
The Assistant Production Manager / Apprentice Beverage Scientist will lead our team both on the production floor and in the lab. As a small but rapidly growing startup specializing in full-service beverage co-packing, we are seeking an individual who is eager to learn and grow with the company while taking on a diverse range of responsibilities. Your ability to quickly absorb and apply new information and skills is crucial for success in this role. This position is ideal for someone with a few years of beverage production experience, a keen attention to technical details, and a strong desire to gain deeper expertise in all aspects of beverage production. You will also collaborate with the engineering team and leadership staff to implement process improvements and contribute to engineering projects aimed at enhancing factory floor operations.
Requirements:
Demonstrable basic knowledge of food and beverage chemistry, microbiology, and flavor science (to be assessed during the interview process).
Willingness to perform various job functions, including production, lab work, quality control, research and development, cleaning, maintenance, and more (training provided).
Proficiency in algebra, logic operations, and MS Excel (to be assessed during the interview process).
Passion for expanding your knowledge of beverage science and production.
Fast learner with an inquisitive mindset and strong problem-solving abilities.
Ability to conduct independent research, evaluate and cite information sources, and summarize findings (to be assessed during the interview process).
Experience in a beverage production facility or similar environment.
Comfortable working long hours on your feet in a hot, noisy environment, operating heavy machinery.
Ability to regularly lift 60 lbs, climb ladders, and operate a forklift (training will be provided).
Valid driver's license in Florida.
Nice to Have:
Proficiency in Spanish.
Mechanical, electrical, automation, and/or fabrication knowledge or experience.
Laboratory experience in organic chemistry, chemical engineering, and/or microbiology.
3+ years of tangential experience in production operations, manufacturing, beverage manufacturing, or related fields.
Experience leading teams of technicians or operators.
Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-day canning and white-label production activities.
Manage a small team of production staff (1-2 direct reports initially).
Ensure compliance with quality and cleanliness standards.
Perform quality control checks on products.
Assist with product formulation and ingredient sourcing.
Propose and implement process improvements.
Collaborate with the engineering and leadership teams to implement process improvements and contribute to engineering projects.
Salary Range: $60k-$70k
