  1. This unit has never been used. The shell is brass. Tubes are 90/10 brass alloy.
  2. Basco / Serk mfg. Info: I learned that the integrity in the welding / brazing of this component if it used lead, would or could be less than optimum. Lead would be molten before the alloy on surface and joint beads of that size. The shell has no lead in the alloy. Although many times lead is used in brass to make machiining easier, that does not apply to the formed and cast shell components. Hope I clarified that better. Thanks!
  3. Thanks! I received some more detailed information. An email from API Heat Transfer. Brian Sanom, stating that the shell is 100% Brass. Also learned, the copper nickel 90/10 alloy tubes are superior for anti-fouling (smell / bio- transmission) and anti-scaling, more than the 80/20 and 70/30 alloys ,and stainless steel or copper by far. (90/10 Alloy is quite common with industrial sea water distillation processes where micro-organisms attaching to metal are a concern. UPDATE: I may be considering selling this due to an exciting job offer yesterday and no time for engaging another hobby besides model railroading, reef aquariums, and rehabbing my apartments. If I do decide soon, I'll let you know before any new listing elsewhere! Thanks members!
  4. UPDATE FEB. 22, 2013: I AM ACCEPTING A POSITION WORKING IN CALIFORNIA AND RELOCATING. THIS HEAT EXCHANGER IS NOW FOR SALE! PRICE IS $1,500. / Free Pallet loading for your choice of pick up or shipper (weight w pallet 200 lbs.) Dear Members, I have a large heat exchanger that I was going to at one time engineer / network into a system with an outdoor wood burner hot water furnace and indoor propane hot water boiler. I have a tidy investment in this too. That was several years ago and the project never happened because of work and relocation. However, I was wondering how practical this unit would be to any distillation process for spirits. Perhaps someone may be familiar and help me out with some advice?
