  1. Looking to buy some hose to move mash with I need 25'-30' lengths with 2" triclamp fittings if you have something laying around that isn't seeing use or you otherwise don't need Let me know what you have. I might be interested in shorter lengths also and I could use some spirit rated hose in 5'-15' lengths. I'm looking for stuff that's in good condition. thanks.

  2. When you post something for sale here please post pictures and prices! If that's not the way you want to do business then by all means go the route of traditional advertising and wait for us to call you! Otherwise please stop posting on this forum until you are ready to post complete info here.

most people that see your ad here will never contact you because it is a waste of time! I can get all the information I need to make a decision on contacting someone from an ad here in ten seconds with prices and pictures and then I don't need to waste your time or more importantly mine!

  3. Well we still haven't decided on a boiler and we are getting closer to the completion of our still. we are considering buying a 50hp muira (that's the smallest they make) really we need closer to a 40hp, and are considering a "rite" boiler does anyone have experience with the brand? I'm open to any more suggestions. The still is a 500 gallon Vendome.

Also for people running a Columbia and or the more traditional style boilers are you leaving them running 24/7 or are you turning them on and off everyday?

  4. If you sell to the state they use the the wholesale price to determine the minimum retail price and you have to sell it from your tasting room for at least that price and you will keep the mark up. As the producer you can charge for samples or give them for free. You can also charge for tours or give them for free. In the state of Mi. a regular bar is required to charge for samples of any type of alcohol.

In Mi you can sell some products to the state and have others that are only sold at your premises if you don't sell to the state they can't set a minimum and you can sell those products for any price you want.

  5. We are located in Kalamazoo Mi. I am also interested in a chiller as well something that I can mount on our flat roof. That at the very least we can use to cool our condenser and maybe the steam coil in our mash cooker that is plumbed for steam and water cooling.

I have spoken to a local company but I want to have a better understanding of what I'm in need of from a distilling centric perspective as there is not anyone local that has any direct distillery experience.

  6. I am looking for a boiler brand recomendation for a 500 gallon still and mash cooker. What do you like about the systems you have? What would you have done differently if you were purchasing now? Are you using two smaller boilers; one for each, or one boiler big enough to run the still and cooker at the same time? Is this problematic or inefficient if only running the still and not the cooker?

  7. You could simply not sell to the state at all and make all sales from your tasting room and set the price at what ever you want, the mi state minimum is set based on the whe sale price to the state if you don't sell to the state they can't set a minimum. There are plenty of distilleries that sell some products to the state but also have exclusive products that can only be purchased directly so that's something you could also consider.
