  1. We build a small and a large GAC filter. Simple and proven design. Check out our web page.
  2. Trident Stills has experienced many changes this year. We have built our own brand new shop... which turns out to be too small already because of the exploding demand of distillery equipment; which has also led to longer lead times, and hiring on more full time and part time help. We have had a lot of new contacts that have referenced our lead times and pricing from our previous post over a year ago. Depending on what you are looking for for equipment and what we already have lined up for work, we are anywhere from a 6 month lead time to a year or more. Whether you choose us or another vendor, lead times are increasing across the board. That means it is never to early to start researching equipment. Our prices have gone up marginally because of the increased price of stainless steel and copper. We are still very excited to hear about your dream to distill and want to help make that dream come true. We now also have an office manager, so quote requests and any questions are usually answered the same day. As we continue to install more equipment we will be updating the pictures on our website http://www.tridentstills.com. We would like to thank all of our distiller friends for their kind words on here and wish everyone a happy holiday and a spirit filled generous new year.
  3. Woodshed,I sure didnt mean to put anyone off. I have a straight down list of pricing for the base still from 50 gallon to 600 gallons. with that I also have some menu like choices for the add ons. I like to chat with a customer and see what product they intend to produce and what scale they are thinking on. I find that most are surprised to find they can scale up because of some options that I offer. I am glad to just shoot a price to the too busy, but I am working 60 hours on a short week and will make 15 minutes for about anyone from the "starting my business plan" to the "got a handful of money and want to buy now". I appreciate Lenny's kind words...great guy himself and cant wait to meet him for a drink sometime. so...for those that want to know-Base price for a complete still any heating option: 50 gallon-$ 15k 100 gallon-$30k 200 gallon-$38k 300 gallon-$41k( noticing a pattern now?) 400 gallon-$44k 500 gallon-$47k 600 gallon-$50k These are the prices currently....and have been for about 4 years now. I dont see them changing anytime soon. I love this business and am not far from opening my own here in Maine. I will always build equipment...Its my passion and I have a great crew of apprentices. any questions or comments- 207-416-9353. 6am-11pm EST. yeah...I dont sleep much.
  4. LOL, Damn Kev...I have a Ridgid 535 you could have used. glad you found what you needed for now.
  5. Max, That is a good size to go with. rethink the copper coil. it will create backpressure and high velocity gasses running which will require a longer coil. I would go with a good sized tube in shell. Not a single tube either, a bundle of tubes in a tube sheet in a shell. call me and I can give you a few minutes and some suggestions on the other questions. 207-416-9353 Also be sure to pressure test the jacket on that tank and check it for any leaks. Might be good to do a dye penetration test too. watch close for stress cracks. In Great Spirits, Jesse
  6. Another note, it sure would be nice to see the pricing on the website. I understand how things can change, but a general starting price would be nice to see. Panascope, We have considered posting pricing on our website but decided against it, and here's why: We actually like talking to our customers. We get it - you have cashed in the 401k, raided the kids' college funds and maybe quit the 9-5 to pursue a dream. You have visited some distilleries, taken a course or two and even tried out some recipe ideas with your family and friends. You know that given the opportunity, you can create a great product which will provide you with a comfortable income and maybe even some industry recognition. We get it, we are right here in the U.S.A. with you, feeling proud of our American-made products and the camaraderie of making quality spirits. We don't post our pricing because we don't want to have just a transaction with you. We want to hear about your ideas, your dreams, and your plans. By sharing those with us, we can help tailor products specifically to your needs. We will help you figure out what you need to get started, when you should upgrade, how you can accomplish your goals in the order you want to reach them - without charging you a penny more than necessary. When it is time to deliver, we'll give you some build pictures if you desire ~ we know, it's just like having a baby and we are as excited as you are! Of course, it would be easier to just post shiny pictures with price tags, but we pride ourselves in taking the extra time with every single customer to be sure it is a unique and special experience. We will never have a 1-800 number where you can't get answers to your questions. You'll never feel like you got a mass-produced unit from half-way around the world. We will likely come visit you after delivery, whether you need us or not. We get excited when you succeed and want to share that experience with you. So, we don't post prices. We can quickly get you an accurate quote to what you need. We are craftsmen that have our hands on every piece of equipment we build and deliver, we are likely never going to be the lowest price on the market...But we'd sure hate for that to be the reason we missed the opportunity to hear your story. In Great Spirits, Jes ~ Trident Stills http://www.tridentstills.com
  7. Thanks Panoscape, still figuring out that damn link problem. PS---GOT IT!! Thanks a million P!! the above link now works and we secured the name...again! LOL.
  8. Hey Folks, We hope everyone had a great time at the ADI Conference! Four of our customers/friends produced AWARD WINNING spirits!! Congratulations Deerhammer Distilling (Down Time Single Malt Whiskey - GOLD medal and their Whitewater Whiskey Moonshine Bronze medal!); Dancing Tree Distillery (Silver medal Gin!); Still The One Distillery (Jarhead Gin - Bronze medal!) and Sweetgrass Farm Distillery (Back River Gin - Bronze Medal!) Way to go everyone! We have just delivered a turnkey DSP package to Arkansas and are currently building a 600 gallon steam jacketed still. In addition we will be setting up a 180 gallon leased still In New Hampshire-this is a first for us. Just helping out a customer with their immediate growing pains. For those of you who haven't seen the American-made, quality stills and equipment, crafted right here in New England - check out our updated website at http://tridentstills.com We are entering our busy season, so lead times are about 8-10 weeks - well worth the wait for MADE IN USA equipment for YOUR award winning recipes! In Great Spirits, Trident Stills
  9. Adam, We have built a couple 200 gallon stills and a 300 Gallon brew kettle. also a 1500 gallon Malting vessel. We do packed columns.
  10. When a captain would water down the rum to make it last longer....The crew were within its rights to MUTINY!!
  11. Hi JGM, We just returned from a combination customer service trip/ distilleries tour from Maine - hit NY, OH, MI, WV, NC, RI and MA. We have equipment in several of those distilleries, but saw our fair share of Vendomes along the way. They are beautiful for sure and have a great reputation. While our stills are a bit less flashy (we are from New England after all - practicality is priority) our pricing will fit your budget much more comfortably - and you can get the 100 gallon to start with. As you see from the prior posts, you probably won't be in the 50 gallon for long and will have the added expense of upgrade at that point. Certainly if you are in a position to go turnkey now, we provide everything you will need - fermenters, mash tuns, hot liquor tanks, GAC filters, wort chillers, etc. You should drop a line or give us a call for comparison sake. Jesse 207-416-9353 Trident Stills www.tridentwelding.com
  12. Charles, thank you for the kind words, I am glad you are pleased. Jesse
  13. old_ky_man, That column is 4.5 feet plus the dephlegmator. puts the top of the lyne arm at just about 10'-6'. It takes about 50 minutes to heat from ambient temp to running heads. It is electric and in my area the cost for dellivered Kw is just under $.15 per Kw. that puts the heat up time at $2.48 per hour and running time at about $.83. This beauty is the latest 200 gallon steam jacketed and is little lab brother. http://s1060.photobucket.com/albums/t443/Jesselupo/#!cpZZ4QQtppZZ20
  14. Bluestar, Most pack with copper mesh that comes in rolls 6" wide and in different lengths. One other packs with the same style mesh, but in stainless and with the dephlegmator able to achieve 95% abv. Its a slower run to choke back the flow and increase reflux to hold higher proof. For other spirit runs you can put less packing and opt not to use the Dephlegmator. users choice. Jes
  15. Double G, Its a 6" daimeter column. TC connections for ease of use. Call me if you want to talk shop sometime. 207-416-9353 Jes
  16. Hey folks, Here is one like ones I have seen used in Hydrogen labs. http://www.rkiinstruments.com/pages/ps2.htm. According to one distributors web page it rusn around $425. pretty cheap insurance. IMHO. Jesse
  17. Hey folks, I am still here, just finishing up on a 200 gallon steam jacketed still with dephlegmator and agitator. Also a 400 gallon steam jacketed Mash/Lauter tun and a wort chiller. I have to add my other email to my new phone. (once I figure that out, lol.) For now its best and easiest to reach me at jesse@tridentwelding.com or call me at 207-416-9353. Thanks, Jesse
  18. hey all, I bought a 40 gallon electric Groen kettle used for less than a grand. working condition. I then found several of the same size for very similar money. they are nice and have lids...they sell new for just over 10k...so used isnt too bad.
  19. Nickajack, I would recommend considering how you would clean and inspect your condenser of choice. I prefer the tube in shell for this reason. the copper coil was what was available traditionally. tube in shell are used in Bio-Pharm for their cleanability. I agree with Scott in this one. And my stuff is built right here in Maine. Jesse
  20. Thanks guys, Yes its built capable of Vodka. It has good manual controls for fine tuning what you want to run for a process.
  21. Hey folks, I just wanted to share a picture of the still I just delivered. A still in the back of a pick-up truck...how wonderfully rendeck of me...lol.
  22. Hey Folks, I just wanted to let all my past and potential customers to know that my phone number had changed. My new number is 207-416-9353. Thanks, Jesse
  23. By the pictures it looks like you could easily get an inch of good cerwool. that would more than do it. cost around $100ish. McMaster part number 93235K46. might be able to go with a thinner or smaller size. just a guestimate.
