  1. Hi. We will be polishing 250 litre batch's of 40% vodka at a time using powdered activated carbon before fine filtering. Could anyone advise how many grams of carbon powder should be added per 1 litre of vodka. We are based in the UK. Many thanks
  2. Thank you for your response. We are based in the UK and have already sourced our powdered carbon. I would however be interested in how you can help us with a filter assembly?
  3. Sorry for the looooong overdue response. New born to deal with!!! Thank you very much.

  5. Hi guys. A couple of questions today... 1: Could you advise what grade of plastic we need in our pump that can handle 40% vodka, the gaskets will also need to be up to the job? 2: We have been asked by our filter supplier to find out what micron size activated carbon is so they can provide the correct grade filter. As usual any advice will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
  6. Great stuff, thank you for your help.
  7. Could anyone advise if carbon treating should results in loss of alcohol percentage. We have treated a few times and found that we have lost percentage. I am wandering if it is because our system is open and we are losing it to the atmosphere. Any advise on this would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Hi all. I am currently in the process of putting together a business plan to open and run a small batch Micro Distillery (vodka) in the United Kingdom(around 100 70cl bottle per run - 40%). I have already priced and researched all areas I need to accomplish this but I still have some questions that I hope someone out there can help with. My problems is the still! I have a 10 plate reflux design I am happy with and, as previously mentioned, have already priced for its construction from a local fabricator. My question is certification related. Once (eventually/hopefully) my plant process has been approved by HMRC does this piece of equipment need to be signed off as safe to use by a governing body within the UK? Also, does anyone know the laws relating to the storage and removal of the heads of the run within the UK. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
