  1. Very interesting discussion, gentleman. Please, no one take offense, but why if one of these can be built for $600 and strip .5 gpm why would somebody pay the numbers you guys are charging (greater than $10k, right?) for one doing 1-1.5 gpm? Why not just build three small strippers? I'm just trying to understand if the difference is assembly and design work or some other factor I'm not seeing. Again, not trying to upset everyone, just trying to understand better.
  2. Thanks, guys! Who knows if we actually will build our own, but we definitely like having the option.
  3. Forgive me, I'm sure this has been covered or I should have seen it in the regs, but I haven't been able to find this in my searches. What are the regulation regarding building your own still? We are looking at taking over a brewery, so the only large piece of equipment we need is the pot still. As everything else in place, we are hoping to start making some lovely product as soon as we can get through our licensing (changing it with TTB and local gov from brewery to distillery), but many of the builders I've talked to have at least 5 month build times. We have guys on our team with a ton of engineering and welding experience (a few bored aerospace engineers), but how is this handled by the TTB? do we submit still designs along with our floor plan? is this something we can't do without a separate license? Any insight the pros on here can give us is much appreciated. Cheers, Josh
  4. Hey All, My name is Josh and I'm exploring the idea of opening a new distillery here in DC. I've already been pouring through the wealth of information available here, but I apologize in advance if in the future I ask questions that have already been covered. Hopefully I'll have some great product to share with you guys soon!
