  1. Does anyone have evidence what oxygenating vodka does during filtering? Is it a good idea to have some extra oxygen in the process when filtering through activated charcoal or is it a bad idea? Thanks!
  2. Hello ADI Community, I am selling my steam powered 500L Muller distillation system. This unit has been in daily service at since October 2015. It is in like-new condition and has been maintained meticulously. We are replacing this unit for a larger still as our business continues to grow. This unit will be disassembled and professionally crated. It will be available to ship late April/early May. This is a fantastic piece of equipment and a great opportunity for a distillery that does not want to wait 12-18 months for a brand new still. Price: $90,000 + Shipping & H
  3. We are making a 100% Corn Vodka from scratch and everyone that makes vodka from scratch knows it is a time killer. Luckily people like our vodka and as we begin to max out our production ability we are thinking of ways to stretch the quality product that we have. Our question is: If we blend our 100% Corn Vodka (55-60%) with another 100% Corn Vodka from a bigger company (40-45%) what would we have to change on our label. With straight vodka there is no Formula process so I called TTB Labeling and they sent me to Formula. No one at the TTB was much help, hopefully I can get some on the for
  4. Hello everyone We're having slight problems over here with a new project.... How the hell do you figure out the proof of naturally infused spirits? The pineapples have a ton of sugar and water in them, the sugar making the liquid denser therefore the hydrometer is completely inaccurate. Our antonpaar is also out of the question because of the damage the sugar would do to the equipment. We're at a loss over here and can't find anyone who has seemed to have similar problems. Please help, thank you!!! -SC

    Blue tint

We bought 100% wheat NGS and diluted it down to 80 proof with some RO water. We ended up getting a slightly blue color when we proofed it down. Does anyone know what might cause this?
  13. Anyone care to share their pros and cons of using flakes versus real potatoes? Everything that I read states that potatoes are made up of so much water, that the flakes are the way to go. Being in Alaska, I also feel that storage and consistency is important. I would love to keep it Alaskan potatoes but unless some farmer starts offering flakes up here, it really just isn't feasible. Anyone have good recommendations for Potato Flake manufacturers? I would also like to use more Glacier Water and if the flakes are dried, then it give us the opportunity of using more of the glacier water.

  17. Can good brandy be made from bad wine? I am a nu-bee small producer that started out as a winery. Over the years I accumulated over two hundred barrels of flawed wines that were not fit to be bottled. I ignored these barrels of bad wine for several years. When it came time to move my facility, I opened some of the barrels. I was amazed that the wine (although badly oxidized) was not vinegar. Now licensed as a DSP , I have been using this badly oxidized wine to make neutral grape spirit (190 proof) and some amazing Vodka. Needless to say, the head and tail cuts are quite large but I can produce

  21. Hi All, I'm just reaching out to see what the interest would be in bulk sales of New York produced NGS and Vodka. This would be made with 100% New York grain, and 100% New York Malt. This can be made to any specification you may have, And any recipe you may have. Being as it's 100% NY made, with 100% NY grain, This would allow NY distilleries to keep their Farm Distillery exemption. Thank you in advance. Nik
  22. My wife and I recently had our farm distillery in New York acquired by a group out of state. Prior to the acquisition, we were producing (3) types of vodkas, a Premium vodka, Raspberry Vodka, and Vanilla Vodka. Our most popular product was Disco Lemonade, a raspberry based canned cocktail that caught fire in the northeast. We used a very small equipment set-up to get started in our business in an 800 sq. ft. space in the back of a warehouse with no tasting room. At this point, I am offering my expertise as a consultant to smaller distilleries and start ups in equipment selection, pr
  23. I'm in the planning phase of opening a small distillery to produce rum, vodka, gin and whiskey. It appears that I'm going to have to carbon and/or chill filter my vodka and rum as initial tests show the spirit to be too cloudy and also a bit rough around the edges on taste. Can anybody please advise me what the cost per bottle/gallon/litre might be to peform carbon/chill filtering. I'm referring to the cost of carbon etc as opposed to paying off say 10k of equipment within the cost of production. That said, if people can also advise of chill filter and carbon system costs too, that would
