Proposed FDA registration fee

WineAmerica has posted an alert in their latest news letter. It describes a proposed $2,000 annual fee for all food processors, regardless of size or food safety history.

The [House] bill is The Food and Drug Administration Globalization Act of 2008 and WineAmerica is urging wineries to contact Health subcommittee members from OR, CO, CA, GA, NC and TN.

I'm reluctant to simply copy and paste the notice, but if there's interest, I'll see if WineAmerica would send a letter with details over this way as a courtesy to a kindred organization.
